IDPA Holster

I got a nice Safariland paddle holster through Wolverine supplies, they ordered it for me so it took a while, but a good price, about 40$, and good quality. They're plastic like fobus, but have a suede like lining and they are adjustable. Highly reccomended. Check their website and give wolverine a call. You'll find what you need under duty gear, concealment, holsters:

Any one got experience with the RSR defense plastic holsters?
DO YOU KNOW IF the RSR Defense holsters are "LEGAL" for IDPA?

I just picked up a set of RSR gear off Ebay, direct from Israel, for my Glock 22, and am thinking about shooting a few local practical matches, and maybe crossing the moat and shooting a few IDPA events.

I special ordered the belt loops instead of the default paddles If you don't specify [ and maybe even if you do specify ] they send you the paddle attachments.

The RSR stuff, on initial inspection, seems very practical/tactical.

Quite a bit better designed and executed than the FOBUS holsters and pouches, the roto mechanism and mag retention adjustments are considerable improvements over Fobus. The RSR comes with little adjustable blocks, to fit exactly whatever belt width you use.

The retention mechanism seems close to the Serpa CQB, but a bit better protected by cast in ridges around the go button. It also seems to release a LOT more consistently, naturally, and smoother for me than the SERPA CQB setup. I was 100% at releasing with the Serpa only when using it straight up, directly at the side, and the RSR is definitely more consistent for me from behind the hip.

So far I like this kit ... but ask me again after I shoot a match with it.

Many or most fobus holsters are far too tight out of the box, and they can't be adjusted.

The "hot" brands are Blade-Tech, Comp-Tac and Raven Concealment. Paddle holsters are to be avoided: I've seen too many come off the belt with the gun.

Check the rules for holster compliance. For example, the
Blade-Tech DOH is not compliant, while the SRB is.

It was AcrashB that originally recommended the Blade Tech to me, as well as other parts of my gear. When he talks, I listen. This guy knows what he's talking about.

Being as I just bought a Fobus (only holster I could find for my Glock21), could someone let me know why they are viewed so poorly.

I've seen quite a few shooters give themselves wedgies while attempting to draw from a fobus. Fun to watch, not to do.

In other words I was right, the DOH is not compliant. Let's keep things simple for the new guy, and just tell him to get the SRB.

Technically, yes you were right. However, sometimes the DOH is in stock when the SRB is not which is one of the reasons I mentioned it (that's why I have a DOH). It also just lets him know about the options available.

I didn't think telling him that you can take the bracket off the DOH would make things overly complicated for the guy.

I have been using Fobus holsters in IPSC and IDPA for years with no issues. I have ones for my 1911, Sig 220 (9mm) and Sig 220 (.45) and have never missed a draw.

So basycaly I have 3 choice Blade tech SRB (will my extended barel fit in ther since I am using a HK P2000)

The other logical choice would be com-tac whit a gladiator or a belt holster

3 would be to call wolverine :)

We just got some of the RSR pistol and magazine holsters in for the Glock, XD and 1911 if anyone is interested. :D

I read that the holster rules don't applies for military member I am in the military but won't participate in uniform, anny one have an idea how that rules aplies to me?

Thanx

If you are speaking of Leg Holsters they are not approved for IDPA. If a member of the military makes an agreement with a local match director for local club shoots and used his military leg holster such an exception can be allowed provided the member shoots for no score. For Sanctioned matches leg holsters are not approved under any circumstances.

see IDPA Canada web site for the offical ruling.

Take Care

This one is soon to be viewed on the EE. I'm sure it is a fine piece of kit, but it's stupid first owner :)redface:), went and bought one for a Glock 21, not a Glock21sf, with picatinny rail. So of course it does not fit, goes in until the rail hits the bottom

Short Frame bites me in the ass again! Holster doesn't fit, old magazines don't fit, 22 conversions don't fit (unless newly manufactured)

Have you tried Urban Tactical?

No, only tried the usual stores (WSS and Cabela's) locally, and Cabela's, Scheel's and Wholesale Sports in North Dakota. I'm gonna head over to CSS either tomorrow or Thusday, so we'll see if they have anything, here's hoping.

Gonna post my EE ad tomorrow, for the Fobus that doesn't fit, if the store wasn't 3 hours and a border away, I'd just return it.

Comp-Tac is the way to go. They will custom made your holster to fit.

Here is my new belt holster for G34. It took less than 10 calendar days to arrived from US to my door in Toronto. IDPA/IPSC Legal.

Mine is US68.00+Shipping. Excellent quality. You don't even have to step out your door to get it. :D
