The legislation and RCMP interpretation has always been obvious -
It is perfectly legal to load more than 10 9mm in a 40 cal mag.
But the advantage for IPSC etc. is meaningless for the same reason the unenlightened on this forum have been posting sensless arguments.
I was present at an IPSC practice match where a 40 cal. mag was mixed up with the 9mm mags and was mistakenly loaded with a couple extra rounds.
The shooter was stopped after a couple of extra shots and was DQ 'd.
The club executive freaked out and reported the incident to the CFO. It seems many are unenlightened.
Of course the CFO did nothing - no offence.

Your 'yes it is', 'no it isn't' is now unfounded. It has been proven IT IS LEGAL to load a 40 mag with more than 10 rounds of 9.
So now the conversation has gone from "no it isn't" to "advantage for IPSC etc. is meaningless".
This IS a step ahead for ALL OF US. Why don't you ALL accept it and honor those who have the balls to stand up for YOUR rights.

OMFG! Where on earth did this happen?
Do they call the CFO when someones sear wears and the gun doubles?
It is a club with a large membership and executive who post frequently on this web site.
I dont want to throw sh!t at the club. I didnt renew my membership 30 years ago due to restrictive policies.There are still a lot of good people there.
To avoid controversy I will refrain from naming the club publicly.
There is a limited number of G.T.A. clubs with IPSC practise shoots,so I am sure readers can figure out the identity of the club.

When does the clock stop?
Good info here guys on some questions I had as well. Reading the rule book about when timing stops it says on pg. 5 "After shooing a course of fire the time is recorded." Does the S.O.stop the clock after you comply with the command "Slide down, hammer forward", or the "unload and show clear" command? The difference could be a few seconds so I'm just wondering. I haven't done IDPA yet but looking forward to trying it out in April.
