Id like to get into either ipsc or idpa, but to be honest, I dont much about either..

I know that ipsc is faster and requires more training.

Could some one please fill me in on the difference between ipsc and idpa?

thanks!:D

Just a tip PP, the anotation "VS" when reffering to thes two sports is probably not a great idea :)), try attending both in your area and judge for your self

They are both fun, I sure enjoy them both!

They are both games, or sports, however you want to look at it. I think whatever you choose, you will enjoy it. You will probably end up trying both anyways. The biggest difference I find is the equipment. As for training, they both require substantial skill to become proficient, one is not easier than the other, just different philosophies on target selection and priority.

Is that on the fence enough?:D

Any differences in required kit? Holsters for example. I am thinking about picking up a bladetech doh, would it be acceptable for either ipsc or idpa?

Ipsc requires a black badge course, what about idpa?

Do both, one is as much fun as the other, sadly I used to enjoy PPC but there doesn't seem to be a lot of clubs in my area atempting to hold any matches thus I sold my PPC gun. :(

Shoot every disipline u can its all fun.:dancingbanana:

IPSC - Irrational People Squawking Constantly
IDPA - I Don't Practice anymore
PPC - Pillows, Pads, & Cushions :)

All are fun. :D

DOH's are not IDPA-legal. http://www.idpa.com/Documents/IDPARuleBook2005.pdf The SRB is your choice in Blade-Tech for IDPA.

IDPA may or may not require a course - check your local competitions. Around here, any holster certification is good.

IPSC and IDPA are both great ways to get out and shoot - attend a match and see what you like.

if you get the bladtech "stingray" competition special they have you get both the DOH attachment plus a plain belt attachment... plus a double mag pouch, truley the cats ass of holsters and will allow you to compete in both sports equally well.

First of all, I can't resist:

But in all seriousness, they're both good and there's good people in both who can help you learn. The more shootin' the better! (IPSC)

Lately I just wish I had more time to do either one. In IPSC there are less rules as far as what additions you can make to your gun. IDPA is more a stock gun type scenerio. I always get in trouble when I make anymore comments so that's all I can tell you! LOL Best advice is to try both. If I had more spare time I would do both myself.

ipsc vs idpa

There really is not contest between ipsc and idpa. If you have access to both shoot em. But it will really come down to what is accessible in your neck of the woods. The gun community is not so large in most places to have both a very active ipsc club and a very active idpa club.

So go with whatever you have and have fun.

This thread comes up about once a month. I was surprised the last time that there was nearly complete consensus that IPSC and IDPA are incredibily fun shooting games. I was expecting the knives to come out but it was more like a Kumbaya moment.

The only ones that were desenting were those that shot neither.

but but but JASON...

IDPA/IPSC will get you killed in a real firefight..... or says those that have never been in a real fire fight and just read about it in the newspapers... frankly the only ones getting in real firefights are gangbangers and mohawk indians in canada.

hey has anyone gone to the mohawk reserve in onatrio yet and see if they want to affiliate as a Club.... probably some good shooters there :)

1 Holster Style

IMHO you could go with just the paddle style and forget the drop attachment.

Reason? Consistency of draw. By using the same holster position for both sports you will not need as many adjustments to your draw/presentation. The only difference in the draw will be your cover garment...the grip will always be in the same position.

From my experience, one of them is really fun and challenging, and the other is I***.:stirthepot2::nest:

Just kidding, both are good to get into and great competition as well.

Like the folks have been saying, if you can get into both, go for it.
