Very serious. Life kept getting in the way and plans always fell through, so I finally accepted that I'd never be able to manufacture the rifles myself in a timely manner and sold my design.
I'm not the sort who would drop a few grand on a single rifle. If a non restricted AR would bring the XCR or ACR down a grand, I'd probably get one or the other. Otherwise I'm finding the AR to completely satisfy my urges to punch paper or bust clays on the 200m berm.
Love the easy disassembly and easier conversion. From .223 to .50 in 20 seconds or less![]()
I love my ACR. I personally feel it is superior in operation and design than an AR, but you can't deny the ubiquitousness of the AR platform. If they weren't restricted, I would have an 18.6" AR in my safe for sure.
The Tavor and other rifles we currently have as non restricted would still be around but their price would have to drop or they would fade away into nothingness. How could they compete with a $1500 AR that does everything they can do as well or better?
The reason those rifles sell in the US is because they are usually significantly cheaper down there so just like us there are guys that just want to have something different and they have the disposable income to give it a try. Don't think for one second though that those same guys only own a Tavor or an XCR, I would bet they all have a couple AR's as well and just want to try something else.

While the current NR black rifles would certainly become more of a niche thing, I don't see the prices dropping significantly. To start, the U.S. made Tavor is not the same as the Israeli Tavor, so it's kind of dumb asking why they're not the same price (I'm not saying you claimed this, just stating it for the record). Additionally, when you look at prices of not just firearms, but consumer goods in general in the U.S., they are almost always cheaper than they are here. The 25-30% increase in retail prices of firearms up here as compared to the U.S. applies to both AR's and other rifles.
Additionally, I've never seen an AR that is a bullpup (something the Tavor does), or one that comes with ambidextrous everything, that can convert to left hand ejection (without replacing the upper). Other guns like the ACR come with many features that aren't found on AR's unless you spend comparable amounts of money.
To be clear, I like AR's, they're cheap and they work, but there are lots of things they can't do, and their design is aging, gracefully, mind you, but aging none the less.
Yes, but the FAMAS lacks the much sought after feature of not falling apart.the FAMAS has done that before ....

Let me play the devils advocate here for a second.... I predict if AR platform goes NR the price of tavor/T97 will stay where they are because the price of the said AR that went NR would go up to where/near the same price range as tavor/T97.
Do not under estimate price fixing.![]()
I think sales of certain rifles like the XCR (closest thing to a NR ar that we can get) would drop, but I think more unique weapons like the t97 and tavor would still have high sales. Especially tavor with it's growing usa popularity
