If CCW was granted, have you thought about what you would carry?

to all the people talking about weight... unless the gun weighs over 5lbs and as much as 50lbs, it's not going to make a damn difference.

at work i carry a tool "belt" that weighs just as much as a glock, and add another 40-50 lbs of tools that i carry around my waist for 8-10 hours a day. 1 or 2 lbs is really not something to worry about, concealing the gun is.

you want a gun that you know how to shoot well and reliable. firepower? how much firepower do you really need? the last thing you want to get yourself into is a firefight. a revolver will do just fine, 5-7 shots and if that doesn't stop him then run.

In the winter I'm sure that most of us could CC a 1911 or any other full sized pistol. In the summer time with lighter clothing, concealment for medium sized folks and smaller is much more problematic.

I legally carry a Ruger Super Redhawk in the field and weight is a factor. Whenever I can switch to a smaller handgun like a 4" .357 magnum I do it as it is easier to carry, sit down etc.

I read your post and I wonder how many miles you've walked while toting your pistol.

The old line, "weight is not a big deal with a good belt and holster", works on people who haven't walked much, unless your idea of walking much is walking from your house to your truck, from your truck to the store and back, and from your truck to your house.

Go on a hike sometime, and then get back to us on how "weight is not a big deal with a good belt and holster".

Well, actually, it happens that I am one of those people who walks everywhere...I would guess a normal day for me might involve 3-5 km of walking, and I also enjoy walking as a form of entertainment. Anyone who knows me well will tell you that I often used to plan my days off around a three hour walk! I'd pick a few places I wanted to go, say Home Depot for a new screwdriver, some friend's house for a coffee, and the library for books, work out a big circle route on a map that took me along a canal or through a big park or even just through an old industrial area that I thought might look interesting, and pack a lunch and walk.

So I have probably walked something like a hundred miles while carrying? I don't know, maybe a lot more than that. I am a big walker. I never found the weight to be an issue. The problems I have had with walking and carrying have all related to things like bunching underwear or chafing skin in hot weather.

I would pick something relatively cheap and light. Maybe a g23 in 40cal? Not a big fan of carrying a big ass pistol or those giant folders either.

oh my lord all mighty !!! you people are terrorizing me with this weight issue!! I don't know if it's on purpose or if some of you actually believe that 1lbs will make such a huge difference!! I would understand someone complaining about carrying a Desert Eagle, and no, not because of the weight, but because of the size!

there is no issue with weight guys!

I carried an M&P around for work for a year and I find it a pain in the ass. This is also not carried concealed. I can't imagine a full size 1911 tucked under your pants be all that comfortable, but then it's a personal choice, like the many people would lug around those ZT knifes.

I'd carry my SR9. Light, simple, reliable. Just what you need for the mean streets of most Canadian towns, where the need to throw down and sling lead presents itself regularly.

Not to sound like a wise ass buuutttt,Carrying a gun concealed means and attitude and life style adjustment.Where do you live? In Manitoba we can go from -40C to + 40C.
What is your dress code @ work? What are the physical requirements @ work?. I'm not saying that things cant be done or that if you have only one gun that you shouldnt carry that particular gun.I'm only saying do not fall into any preconcieved notions. Most people are not willing to drastically change thier life style. But depending on your life style you may need to make significant changes .
Having said that In the past I have legally carried a Glock 23,1911.jfames and in some case due to caliber restrictions 22lr.
