If CCW was granted, have you thought about what you would carry?

I don't really see any credible CCW scenario that would require me to get into a prolongued firefight that would require more than the 5-7 rounds that a revolver contains.

you got that right, if you end up in a firefight, just run! if he/she is not intimidated by your firearm and you missed he/she 5-7 times with your revolver, just run and sign up for more training! lol

I'd go oldschool, and carry my S&W model 10, with a 2" barrel. It's one of my favourite guns. It's heavy enough to practically eliminate recoil. It holds 6 rounds of +P ammo. It's as easy to point as your index finger. It fits in just about any pocket. It's completely foolproof, and you're less likely to spray bullets with it.

I've tested it against my Glock, and my 1911 Colt, and at 10 yards, rapid fire, it's actually more consistent. It doesn't pack a very big punch, but I figure it's more important to land a jab, than miss with a haymaker.

According to the CCW teachings a gun has to be small enough to be concealed successfully even under light summer clothes. In some States gun owners will be charged with brandishing if their concealed gun will be in open view of others.

Some argue that the more powerful round the better, but in CCW classes they stress that if you have a more powerful gun than a cop and you hurt some one else during the fire fight, you're have MORE explaining to do and exposing yourself for both criminal and civil cases. A gun that can be brought into action in very stressful situation and with minimal controls like a Glock is highly recommended.

Reality is that for us up here - Canadian politicians don’t trust the public and they rather see us relying on the effectiveness or ineffectiveness of the cops, rather than carry or even defending ourselves with guns. It’s a shame really, because it is the life of the common citizen that I’m referring to here. On the other side of the page we have the police chiefs who are armed but continue to influence the law makers in this matter and their advice is taken very seriously. In my opinion it will never happen here.
