It's nice to have choice, and I would use what I have, (if I thought I needed to).
First Choice: Norc NZ58. It eats everything without missing a beat, I shoot it very accurately and with the CZ grips, it is super comfortable, and not too heavy.
Second Choice: All Steel Jericho in .40. It to runs flawlessly, is accurate, but is heavier, and seems more cumbersome than the the NZ
Third: 1911. Rare feeding problems, but they do happen. Diminished capacity. Also accurate.
4th: Ruger GP100: while this is the pistol I shoot the most accurately, and the one that fits and comes so easily to hand, the diminished capacity, and for me, slower reloads put it in last place as a defensive pistol. What it does have going for it is when you run out of speed loaders, it's not not like running out of mags; you can still load the cylinder by hand.
