If money was no object...

A pair of Purdeys nicely engraved with my wife's sweater kittens hanging out and case colour hardened of course. 20 and 28 gauge so as not to come off as crass to the brits whilst writing the cheque.

I'm enjoying the comments and agree, my question was pretty open ended and open for interpretation. What I've taken from this is there isn't a one gun for all and that the right tool for the application is important.

With that, I purchased a Benelli M4 which will cover me for my defence and "fun gun" plinker. When I decide to move into hunting/skeet I will pick up something dedicated for it.

Thanks again.

Great pick. Benelli m4 is a amazing gun.

If money wasn't an object then why settle for one gun? However I do all of your listed requirements with a mossberg 500. Stocks and barrels swap out easy and quick.

Having shot a Holland and Holland royal. I will say I can't ever fire a better or higher quality shotgun. If i had the money I'd order a full set 10-12-16-20-28-410 with and extra set of barrels for each. 28" f/m and 26.5" cyl/ic

I can afford my gun addictions.....likely not 2 of us though!!!

I'd buy a Cirrus long before I'd drop 150,000$ on a rifle.... Then I'd shoot my .338 from the Cirrus, into space.....

I know where there is a lovely pair of Holland Royals in 12 bore that I could buy, but.....much as they are beautiful, I don't feel the need to own them.
It is all about choices, once you have enough money for the basics in life. People of very modest means have saved and managed to buy themselves very high end firearms.
I choose not to spend the price of a very good new car, or more, on a firearm, even though I admire the workmanship.
I do not buy at the bottom end of the quality scale either. No Chinese, Russian or Brazilian guns thanks.
I lean more towards Browning, Beretta, AyA, Ruger, Husqvarna, Brno kind of solid, reliable quality.

Yes, in all likelihood , even if I had that kind of money, I would think hard about the need to own shotguns that expensive. As it is, I get pleasure acquiring old guns of decent quality and bringing them back to life. As already mentioned, I too regard them as a lost art form, especially those with higher grade damascus barrels.
