Some nice gun choices there gentlemen.
Personally I'd have concerns for stocking up a bit on the less popular calibers and general availability which is one of my main reasons for choosing .308.
I'll go with my Tikka battue light in 30-06 with the VX-3 1.75-6 glass in Warne grooved receiver quick disconnect rings.
Works great for hunting, cheap enough that I don't baby it, and for company while walking in the mountains I just pop off the scope, and I've got a 6.25 pound rifle with great, fast iron sights.
Sometimes I wish it was stainless, but I've carried blued guns for ages in all weather, and never had a speck of rust with even the most slackadaisical maintenance.

The new Sako carbonlight or Kimber Mountain Ascent in .308 Win. Would be great rifles to choose from.
