If you could only take one type of food....

I'l be starting up the dehydrator in a week or two when the vegies start getting ready. Vacume packed they take up little room and don't weigh nuthin. Got a sourdough biscuit recipe around somewhere too. A few pieces of deer sausage still left too. Using the right herbs and spices along with the dehydrated vegies and you can create just about any soup or stew you want. Steam up some mushroom, pepper and onion with a hair of basil or tyme to add to a skillet full of grouse brest for a saute. Some dried sliced taters done the same way either mashed or pan fried or some rice and you aint doing to bad.
Fits in ziplock bags and acompanies any game meat you encounter or can stand alone. Easy to carry;)

I have been told you take lean ground beef(moose would be better) cook it, drain all the fat, then dehydrate the hell out ouf it, throw it in a pan with some water. and voila, you have real chili out in the bush.

You took the moose from the bush and now you have brought it back...:D in one way/shape/form or another:D

lets get back to pussy. If you eat it properly, it will reward you by carrying all the food you need in the bush.

I just know I'm going to get in trouble for this one...... so sorry in advance mods.

I'm going to change my answer to perogies. BigRed said it and reminded me that that's like a staple around here for me. Add sour cream and and even a bit of bacon or smoked salmon and you'll be be eatin like a king!
I buy frozen.
Tried to make my own once....... They didn't turn out as planned to say the least:mad:
MMMMM Going to the freezer now.

Only one type of food?

Well if it were just for 7 days and I could only have one thing, no froo froo frilly crap to go with it, I'd go for one of three things.

If I could pack a big pot and had all the time in the world to make a fire and cook, it'd be dried peas and salt pork to make pea soup.

If I had relatively limited time but had time to make a fire and could pack a small basin, it'd be a mixture of flour, salt and baking soda, with a tub of lard to make bannock.

If I had no spare time to cook or make fire and no access to a decent supply of good water it'd be a big +1 on the pemmican.

There is some truth in this, but I doubt it works after year 10 of marriage...might be best to pick up a GF just for the hunting trip. :D

I wouldn't take canned stew, did that one trip because the other guys thought it would be a good idea and after about the third day it was like eating canned vomit. Homemade cabbage rolls might be a good option though.:D

Stagg brand dynamite hot Chili.
It would go good with everything you might catch to throw in the pot. :D
