Our club will be having another rifle raffle soon, I am in charge of making selections this time..We've had a couple of bolt action centerfires, I was htinking about changing it up to something else...

SO I went down to the local store and checked it out. Interesting finds (and in our price range) were:

Versatile Hunter:

Baikal O/U combination gun. 12 guage and 30-06

Waterfowl Special:

Remington 870 12 guage with waterfowl camo pattern, 30 " barrel

Rimfire Package

Remington 597 22 LR Laminated Stock, Stainless Steel and a Ruger 10/22 Wood and Blue .22 LR

Which one would you guys go for?

I don't know that I would intentionally save up for a combo for myself but I would surely spring for a ticket or two to win one.
Regards, Waba

The 870 camo is a good bet at a decent price. Just curious - does your local store have a Stoeger 2000 in camo? A few more dollars but damn good semi-auto for the money. Or the P350 ...
Combo guns? Meh...
I like that rimfire package, but how about a CZ? :D

We just used a Remington Camo Turkey Gun Thumbhole stock as a sponsers Prize at our Turkey Banquet... it was a huge draw and we sold record numbers of Sponsers tickets.
Remington is affordable and it's a recogniseable name and the Camo Shotguns look very cool... if your goal is to sell tickets and make money this is the way to go.

It's not about picking a gun that appeals most to you but the gun that will sell the most tickets. That would be the 870 IMHO. It's the gun the most people would want to win and there are more waterfowlers.

The combo might have some "wow" factor but not a lot of widespread appeal. I'd take it if I won it but would never consider buying one.

Why not a good high end inline muzzle loader. Muzzle loader hunting is pretty popular, it may be a good ticket seller.
