If you had only '1' choice !

A drilling would have clear advantages over all others. I didn't think of those (and others may be in the same boat) because I don't have one. The damn thinks are so expensive and not really practical except in a situation such as the one we're hypothesizing. They'd be bloody heavy to carry and not the best suited to the job otherwise.

Thinking along those same lines, though, one of those Savage rifle over 20 guages'd be nice.

I agree, but i was thinking more of the O/U like the Savage

p.s. alot of gents really like their 12 guage options eh ... ;)

If I was to have a single "survival" gun, it would be a single break open 12 shotgun. The mech. being extremely reliable and the versatility of the caliber makes it a winner.

That said, you could get a combo gun or a matched pair like the Rossi's.

I am thinking about the worst possible scenarios here, so I would stand clear of all fancy mechanismes...there's a reason why the canadian rangers are still using Lee Enfield's :)

Yes because the government is to cheap to give them a better rifle as in the M 16 and train them in it's function.

Combination gun, 12gauge/.22LR
That would kill anything you wanted it to.

Why would anyone go with a 12g for shotgun power, and then, go with a .22 cal. on the rifle end of things:confused:

My thoughts would be, if going with a 12g on the shotgun side of things, why not go with a heavier combonation of gun with a bigger rifle caliber such as a 30-06/300 mag/338/ over a 12g instead of a .22 cal:confused:

An FN-2000 with a multi-purpose launcher. Switch from a holographic sight to a scope, and switch the multi-purpose launcher with a shotgun. Or maybe a very Sop-Modded M4 (in 6mm SPC): with an M203, an Illume launcher, a shotgun attachment and a Q-D Harris bipod; a QD 10x42 Leupold M1 (on top of a Picatinny rail), an A.C.O.G Red-Dot, and a holographic sight; a QD Sound/flash suppressor, and a Q-D flashlight and laser. How's that for an "everything" rifle :D? (Now I know I sound like a mall ninja but I don't know too much when it comes to AR's).

You would think that with the Russian and yank subs secretly using our Arctic waters, that the government would put some more effort into the Rangers up north, at least newer guns and training.

No worries as we have the NORTH part of Canada covered ... patrolled by these guys who aren't afraid of foreign submarines, etc ... HAHA! Cheers,
