If you had only '1' choice !

I'd take a drilling or combo o/u of some sort. I like the Merkel SLII, the "super light". It is a 20g over a rifle. I'd probably choose the 9.3x74R, or 30-06. It weighs approximately 6.4lbs. I'd top it off with detachable claw mounts and a fixed 4x Schmidt & Bender.

That would be my choice also as i would have both hunting rifle and a shotgun for game/waterfoul. A shotgun, even with more than one barrel, has a limited yardage for slugs.

I'm surprised that more people did not choose this type of gun as one would have the best of both worlds

Savage 24F in 12 ga. 3" and 30-30 configuration. To paraphrase the mullet definition:

Yup you nailed it. I have a Model 24 in .22LR/20gauge but your configuartion is even better and you would certainly have it all.

A drilling would have clear advantages over all others. I didn't think of those (and others may be in the same boat) because I don't have one. The damn thinks are so expensive and not really practical except in a situation such as the one we're hypothesizing. They'd be bloody heavy to carry and not the best suited to the job otherwise.

Thinking along those same lines, though, one of those Savage rifle over 20 guages'd be nice.

Ok...Ok....Ok....Otokiak. I see your Blue Star and raise you to a Crossfire mk1!

I'm not really into black guns but this one would be sweet... Pump-action .223 over with 12 ga. under.

Well that explains the paint jobs on the car doors up there.
