If you had only 3 hunting firearms......

I m a newb who only has 3 guns and there awesome.

22LR Henrys Golden Boy
300WM Browning a-Bolt Stalker II with a Leupold VX2
12 GA 870 Remigton Express Mag and I succumber to a a Benelli Nova 12 ga too

What I've actually got:
22LR: some kinda russian army training rifle (bolt action) from Marstar for a hundred bucks.
270 winchester: Remington 700DBL, bought second hand, never much liked the scope so replaced it with a Bushnell trophy 3-9x40, still not happy with the groups, tried free-floating barrel, will test this weekend.
12-gauge: Mossberg Maverick 88, the older one, no vent rib, no removable chokes, 3" chamber.

What I'd get if I won the lotto:
22LR: haven't really thought much about this one.
6.5x55 Swedish: Tikka synthetic/stainless
12-gauge: whichever of the benelli Nova, Remington 870, or mossberg ATS shoulders best and has the safety placed so it's easy to flip it off as I mount the gun. Basically, a pump with chokes and a 3-1/2" chamber.

Big Game rifle - Win 94/Marlin 336 .30-30Winchester
Shotgun - 26-28" bbl Pump 12g from any reputable manufacturer ( Rem, Win, Mossberg, Browning the list goes on)
.22 - Try to match your .22 to the same action as your big game rifle, so in this case pick up a lever action .22 ( Win, Marlin, Browning etc)

Remington 700 in 30/06. solid, accurate gun, and the calibre is available at every redneck backwoods store.

Mossberg Maverick 88 in 12 gauge. interchangeable barrels. 18" and 28". lots of versatility.

Savage Mark 2 BTVS in .22LR. good accurate bolt gun. lots of fun to shoot.

T/C Encore in 12 gauge, .50 black powder, .22 LR, .223, .270 and .375 H&H magnum, all scoped except the shotty.
T/C Contender with stainless 18.5" barrels in .22, .223, .357 magnum, .30-30 and .45-70, all peeped.
Anschutz 54 series .22 with a ginormous scope on it to shoot fleas at 50 yards.

First, the CF rifle; for the short ranges you are talking about where you live, as well as further north where I am, I don't think you could beat the BLR in 358 Win. It's also got plenty of power for moose, if you decide to move up to bigger stuff. Shotgun, any 12 ga pump of a reputable make; Rem Moss or Win. All can be had on the CGN EE at reasonable price. For a 22, go to Epps and see what they have. If you like it, buy it.

I think you should concentrate your funds in the CF rifle. Get a good one, look after it, and you will have many years of happy hunting with it.
