If You Had To Sell All Your Guns Except Four

I amswered the question... and could technically survive with only three guns (Citori 625 12 gauge, 77/22 and M77-RS .358)... but realistically, I can't ever see myself with fewer than eight and more likely ten or twelve. Four shotguns, two rimfire and six centerfire... I suppose I would be ok with that.

My plan is 16....... Could likely "make due" with 13 and not suffer being unable to hunt anything under our law or incur too much meat damage etc...... But with your setup, I don't see a good predator hunter...... And that's why I went with a .223 at the bottom and not a .22....... But that still leaves me light on wolves......

Certainly appreciate your love of the under appreciated shotgun....... And as a hunter, every handgun I own (not that it's lots), woukd dissapear in a heartbeat......

The three gun thing is theoretical... in a four gun, I would add a .223 or .22/250 or a .243 or .257 Roberts.

I am down to 20 at the moment... with an immediate plan to go down to 14... and maybe 12 after the fall... but the ones in the safes now are hard to part with.

I hear that...... And the 16/ 13 is based more on wants than needs..... In fact, if this was reality, there would be a second shotgun In the mix.....

An upland gun and a waterfowl gun and two rifles that would kill from coyote to grizzly.....

My 'except four' would be as follows,
- .22 cal rifle, my Ruger, 10/22

- Centerfire rifle, my model 65DL Schultz & Larsen in 308 Norma Magnum.

- Shotgun, my English SxS by J.S. Boreham, 12 Ga.

- For a handgun, my 4" S&W model 29, in 44 Magnum

I kept a 4" bbl S&W model 19 da revolver in .357 mag because I like it and I can retain my 12-6 grandmothered status.
Paw says it has the somewhat cool look of "evil efficiency".

Lots of downsizing going on.
I get the feeling that some are minimizing their firearms holdings in the lull before the storm (the next LPC anti gun pogrom).
I'm sure Ralph, Wendy and the boys at DOJ have a draft bill to repeal sections of c19 and c42 and much much more ready to table.
Deja vu flashbacks to 1993 when my spidey sense was telling me there was a storm brewing and then shortly after Rock tabled c68 in the Commons.
I thought Turdo would wait til after he formally ratified and signed Canada on to the UN small arms treaty and use that as an excuse but you never know.

Not everything in the gun world is about politics....... Guns are expensive..... Even more so with a weak dollar..... Life has become more expensive and raises and wage increases are few and far between for most......

I am not out to throw any gun owner under the bus, and am adamant that I will always have at least one restricted because I can.... Even if I rarely use it......

I just went through a huge downsizing, but that was based on quality versus quantity and what I will use versus what will sit idle.....

I make good money now, and I would rather spend cash on hunts and adventures with nice guns than keep buying what I won't use or is a novelty.......

Not all "sell offs" are due to fear...... Some are due to practicality.....

For some every firearms decision is driven by their overwhelming fear of what might happen in the future. Screw that noise. The worrrwarts and the hand wringers have always been with us. If I'd listened to them when I was young I'd have taken up golf.

My assortment has waxed and waned over the years as interests changed and financial situations improved. A handful of quality guns that you are using for their intended purpose is far preferable than a large collection of safe queens. I could easily get by with four and one would be a 12.6 to stay in the category.

Fewer but better guns! And if in some distant day the Chicken Littles are proven correct the government is going to get very, very well used guns.:d

I personally choose not to live in fear, although I will admit that I will always own at least one restricted just to keep my status.....

If people get a rush out of punching a 3 inch group at 25 yards with a 9mm, good for them, and I will support that...... As long as they do so legally...... But I can tell you that it gives me ZERO RUSH to do so..... But that's just me and that's fine...... I am not here to judge anybody....

Different stokes for different folks...... I am ex mil...... Have fired full auto (boring)...... But that is just me.... I am fully open to law abiding citizens being able to own what they want....

What I do take exception to, is folks that "challenge the man".... And live for a zombie apocalypse etc...... They certainly don't help the cause, that's for sure....

3 years ago paw and I sat down and drew up an inventory of our combined gun holdings which was 120 guns and change.
We objectively assessed what guns we were actually using at the range and in the hunting field; not what we liked or what looked pretty but what we actually used.
It amounted to 4 for me and 2 for him.
That's 6 guns out of 6 dozen.
Now we're down to 8 inclusive of the 2 pre 64 Winchester 94 family heirlooms that went to the grandkids since they've started hunting as per family tradition from our PA roots.
I kept a 12-6 prohib to spite Turdo ;) and so did paw.
We do most of our plinking in a small gravel borrow pit not far from the house with a lever action 22lr rifle.
No silly range nazis to spoil our day and interrupt the singing birds.

as we are in rifle is it only to keep 4 rifles 4 shotguns 4 handguns 4 tactical shotguns 4 precision rifles and so on ...?????

If it is four of each category, I can do that... I can survive with these 20;

Thanks, Phil... that was much easier than just four!

Drool drool,:), nice Greg, VERY nice. And :redface:I keep asking myself why I didn't 'define' four like Phil did:p.

Johnn... in the last group, the second rifle down is the M77 International 7X57 that finally arrived to replace the stainless/walnut Lipsey's rifle I sold you.

Five kinds of long arms maybe. Need at least a couple chamberings in each to cover all hunting and target aims. Four period is too limited.

1. Anschutz 54
2. Kimber 84
3. Winchester 70
4. Beretta 686
5. Remington 870

My #1 combo preference is blued steel and nicely figured wood. When that stainless/walnut Lipsey I got from you first came up for sale, I thought, for here on the Island,;)with our 'wet coast' conditions, it would be a great Deer rifle. :( Questionable as to how much action it'll see this year, unless I luck out and they bump up my cataract surgery date. Till then, with my eye sight being compromised, I don't think it's a wise choice me being out hunting:(.
