As for this 51 pointer, it was a huge disappointment when I opened this thread as I was expecting a large set of antlers. Is there really 51 points on that rack?

Scorable points means ones a minimum of 1". It's got a lot of those.

Yeah, then B&C decided to make it a little more accurate as there was no such thing as a "standardized scoring ring".

By hunting style are you referring to the spray and pray type shooting they were doing and it was pure luck he managed to tag the animal? From reading his story online his group sounds like a bunch of slob hunters who take pot shots in hopes of getting lucky.

First encounter - two hunters take shots and miss
Second encounter - two hunters miss multiple times at a running deer 150 yards+ out
Third encounter - buck is wounded
Fourth encounter - buck is shot two more times

Yeah, that's pretty much it exactly.

It really deserved more coverage.
