Im a lefty and want a shot gun..

I am looking for a shotgun for deer season up here in Ontario. Problem is I am a lefty! Which means paying an arm and a leg for a firearm!

I have been looking at the browning BPS with a bottom ejector but notice its the same price as a lefty.

Are there any other shotguns out there that are bottom ejectors that would be good for deer hunting?:dancingbanana:

I will send you a PM

870 Express in a southpaw variant. They run about $400.

Man, do I ever wish I could force a day of shooting leftie-guns on right-handed people who just say "get over it, we dominate the world."

I know the guy that sold ya that puppy...;)

They are a great option for the price point.

I moved onto a left handed Benelli Montefeltro which I also really like.

Don't compromise and shoot a right handed gun, although our options are limited there is enough to choose from.

You can buy a used O/U shotgun from Tradeex. They have quite a few different models to choose from. Even a few Berettas. No shells flying pass your face either. I know that they can't be converted to a tactical shotgun but for upland bird hunting or general shooting there perfect for that.

As has been explained over and over here on CNG be really careful when buying a O/U if your left handed; the stocks are often canted or “cast off” for a right handed person and they will prove to increase felt recoil and be a little awkward for a lefty...Browning does make a left handed O/U.
Cheers

I am a lefty and any break action shotguns work. I also have Mossberg 590A1, it ejects the shell to the right, but it is far from the face. I like Mossberg action release (behind the trigger guard) and safety on to p of the receiver. These are very easy to operate for a lefty. This is why I don't like Remington shotguns. BPS is another choice.

Hmm, maybe you can let him know I've thoroughly enjoyed it thus far. ;) Especially since it was 'left' on the money! :D

A shooting school that runs shotgun courses of 250 to 400 rounds a weekend rent Mossberg 500's to lefties. Although our range master mentioned the possibility of the tang safety breaking because recoil was in line with the safety, he had not actually seen it happen on the school guns. Don't know if they have cast on or off for for wingshooting - I don't do wingshooting - but for sighted fire, Mossy's are very lefty friendly. Mossberg probably has the best design when it comes to the administrative part of operating a shotgun - loading, changing loads, emergency reloads etc. Just throw the round near the receiver and it pops into place, and just twist the open action onto its side, and unwanted rounds drop out. The tang safety is compatible with a southpaw, but of course, tang safeties are a bit slower to run than the push button by the trigger guard - gotta shift your grip to reach from tang to trigger.

The newest rage of pistol grips on Mossbergs really slow you down - going from carrying the gun by the pistol grip, reaching up to the tang (you essentially have to completely release your grip to reach the tang) and then grasping the pistol grip again to go for the trigger is just painfully slow. Markets being what they are, however, Mossberg obliges and sells them that way!! And, yeah, the same pistol grip on an 870 gives slightly better control of the gun. So I am not opposed to pistol grips on shotguns, just on tang safety shotguns. So if our OP went Mossy for the tang safety, I would not want him falling for the impracticool tacticool pistool grip!

I spent many an hour at many gun shows before I found a left handed Remington 870 for my southpaw son. Best investment I ever made (and he agrees). The Browning BPS is both overpriced and a royal pain to clean, IMHO (not to mention 'clunky'). As to those who advocate a lefty to shoot right handed shotguns, go about your day performing everyday tasks left handed and you will be enlightened.

Does anyone know if Browning sells the left handed cast off stocks? I'm looking at a beautiful Cynergy synthetic but it has a little bit of cast off for a right handed shooter.

Thanks.
