Don't think I will ever go back to a regular red dot again. Just love the 1-4 illuminated optics. Love the fact that they work just fine without the illumination in case the battery dies although the Aimpoint battery does last forever. :p

The Burris MTAC is the best for bang your buck in my opinion....

 
I have a Vortex Viper PST 1-4. I love it for the same reasons. A guy at our 3-gun shoot on the weekend had a dead battery in his red dot. I gave him the battery from my scope and just ran with the crosshairs.

1-10 would be awesome!

I got my MTAC from Lebarons at the recent 20% off sale. My friend tried to get one after me and all of Ontario and Quebec were sold out. I believe Wolverine carries them. Google Burris MTAC for reviews. Just outstanding for the price. Eye relief is among the best at any price.

I find it just as fast as long it's a true 1xs. Some brands say 1-4 but are more like 1.25 - 4.
 
For shooting it in CQB, do you use it as a scope with black reticle, or do you turn on the red reticle?

I have similar scopes and have never even turned the red on at the range to see what it looks like.

Most of the time I haven't turned on the illumination but the MTAC definitely has brighter illumination in the daylight than the DMS. It would have to be a real overcast day to get much use out of the illumination when you already have a nice 1x reticle.

Who does 1-6? I have a Millet DMS about to go onto a new AR as an experiment, but I would love 1-6 instead.

Yeah, but at what price? It is hard to justify $2000+ for an optic on a $1200 gun... As cbabes says, there are family financial considerations to be factored in.

FYI - since y'all love the 1-N stuff, i'm going to be selling my bushnell 1.25-8 scope in the coming days (well, once I get around to taking pics of the thing). sub-$600 for sure.

just sayin'.

and yeah, 1-N is great! even 1.25 is so close to 1 that it's quite natural. too bad I don't use mine on an AR platform for it to make sense! on a 22LR, a reflex is sufficient... I think.

I like a 2moa dot out to 300meters 1/4 or 1/6 at 500. I find I shoot faster and better with the dot( Aimpoint micro)

That's why I said it wold suck. Hard enough to afford a decent 1-6....1-8 and 1-10s may encourage match directors to put targets further away

*cough* watch the EE for an upcoming bushy 1.25-8 scope

i actually haven't seen the 1.25-8 in any recent catalogs - i wonder if it got discontinued due to being too much of a niche product???

Very nice AR's!! What names brands did you end up purchasing? You managed to score a magpul mag with the window, very nice look and the quad rails make the gun look mean!! The last one on the right is a 22lr?
