Imperial Defence or Dlask AR?

i actuall have seen the norinco cq, or m4. I have even handled one and had it side by side with an armalite and a bushmaster. Have you ever seen one of these guns? For the record would you start a thread saying that you recommend everyone consider a norinco as the best option in ar-15's?Because you cannot even compare a norinco to most other manufacturers. Was i wrong in the price? norinco is made in china junk, that is getting better. Their carbines look like they fell off the garbage truck!!!!I own a norinco 1911, and even like it. The only thing i am considering is that maybe they have some back east that have a better fit and finish? Still sounds like terrible advice to tell someone to buy one! Not everyone wants their first car to be a k-car, or their first pair of binos to be tasco. Use your head, and think about value for money.

I personally own an ATR Lower AR, Noveske, and RRA and no the Norinco doesn't compare to them (especially far from the Noveske and ATR), but it isn't as bad as you make it out to be.

i have to apologize, because the finish on the two i have had my hands on out here really seemed sub-standard. I havent personally seen a carbine that was close to as bad as the norincos that i have handled. I couldnt understand why norinco couldnt do a better job, like what they did with the 1911's. It still seems expensive compared to the other offerings that norinco has. I couldnt understand why someone would pay a grand for one, but to each their own.

If you by an imperial defense rifle, you are actually buying a norinco, but for almost twice the cost. From what i understand they bought most of the parts from north china industries and put it together themselves with maybe a few parts from elsewhere.

If its between the two, i would without a doubt go Dlask, but if not that get a Norinco -
Theres no better value out there for an M4.

Your source for this information is from where?

Guys, the only thing Norinco MAKES is money. They manufacture NOTHING, they buy from various State Ordinance Factories, if necessary have them adapted (by the factory) to the civillian market, and sell them. Norinco is an exporter that's all. The M4's we have now come from factories set up to produce the rifle for export to friendly (to China)foreign governments.

I would like all posters in this thread who claim to have information that IDS is made in China or is Norinco sourced to please prove these statements. As a IDS owner, I can not see a comparison to the Norc's on the unit I own. However, and more importantly, if you have proof to these allegations, it would help your argument to post it and prove yourselves as experts, rather than rumormongers.

I would go for a Dlask. Canadian made usually means better quality from my experience.

BTW, I don't think norinco would pay too much attention on our little market because they make big things like tanks, ballistic missles, cannon etc for the real defence market which is what their major business is. Their product (firearms for here) may not be impressive from our point of view (as recreational shooter) but their products WORKS.

oooo........ you handled one...big expert now.....
Have you ever fired one? i doubt it.

I have a Norinco AR, 500 rounds down it and ive had zero problems.

i would take a norinco over an Imperial Derfense anyday... the imperial defense cannot even get the safety geometry right, who ever heard of a semi auto ar15 safety needing to be turned 180* to go off safe.

even NORINCO got the safety right and for the price of the norinco your getting ambi safety and an ambi magazine release....

the local store has 2 in stock and they look fine.... saw one at the range last week and it shot fine.

Does ANYONE know where ID gets their AR's? They don't manufacture them, so they must come from a foreign country.

I shoot Stag, Norinco, and Colt Canada... they are all good. I have no experience with the ID but they look damn cool as does the Dlask...

I don't care about the finish on my Norinco (tho I think its as good as my old Stag) - my personal guns will never see high round counts as I could never afford it anyway.

As far as ID goes, I've seen Thad's, the finish on his is slightly better (on the lower) than the finish on my Norc Lower primarily the difference is that his lacks the machine marks that my Norc has, and is roughly comparable to my Armalite Lower. I've seen him put several hundred rounds through it (I was on the next bay) with no issues of any kind. It was the same story that day for my Norc Upper on Armalite Lower. I've also put a few hundred rounds through my Norc with Norc Lower, again no issues of any kind. Honestly, guys it isn't brain surgery to make an AR that functions perfectly on the range. If I was going in harms way, neither one of these would be my first choice - but I'm not and neither is 99% of anyone else on here who is likely to have a choice about what they carry. The reality is that if you're going in harm's way, you'll get what they give you, and it won't be anything available commercially. I've only seen one "jammamatic" AR, and it was made in the USA (Oly).
