Hey guys,
I know without pics its hard to say but anyone with a ballpark value? One was offered to me but I havent seen it yet
Supposed to be in good shootable condition with a bayonet

They don't come up often enough to have a real established market value. It's kind of up to you guys to negotiate. They're not common in good shootable condition with a bayonet in Canada but they're not exactly popular either. Small market for buyers and sellers.

I am jealous though.

(pm received and responded)

Berdan II's are antiques so their value between the US and here should be comparable (import/export is easy)

Current cheapest one on gunbroker is 1100 USD and in a rough shape and it's been there for a while with no takers.

I believe a fair value is around 1k CAD - that's what I've seen them sell for in the US (the exchange rate dropped over the last year - I try to keep that in mind).

The usual considerations for milsurps apply: Bayonet, cleaning rod and sling loops add value. Most are mismatched so matching is more valuable. Tula and Izhevsk are most common. Sestroretsk less so. I've seen some BSA and Colt Berdan II but I think they might have been converted from Berdan I - obviously more rare and valuable. A Colt Berdan I was sold at RIA recently... but I digress...

One you pick it up, please post pictures and be prepared for a journey to reload for it... There's now someone selling bullets on Gunbroker, but not when I was starting out - so it pushed me into casting which I thought I'd never bother with :/

Ok here are some pics. The cleaning rod seems shorter than most pics ive seen online. It measures 73.5 cm overall. If anyone has one to measure that would be great. Bore is in mint condition.

Very nice condition! Nicer than mine...

The cleaning rod should be numbered and measure 831 mm long.

The stock and buttplate should also be serialized, but by the stock stamp I'm going to bet the stock is matching? The colour seems a bit off though - I believe the colour should be lighter, so I suspect it got re-treated?

The bolt should have an arsenal stamp - it's not matching but if it has an arrow then it's at least arsenal matching?

Here are some blueprints if you are interested: ... [no www]ar15.com/archive/topic.html?b=6&f=14&t=236794

Cleaning rod does not look like Berdan one at all. And not all Berdan II rods were numbered. BTW you have to revert front barrel band so auxiliary front sight sits on the right side, not on the left. You see auxiliary extension on the right side of the rear sight? That is to be used with auxiliary front sight on the front barrel band. Nice score on bayo (if it's positively Berdan bayo)!
