I like these red rifles in this order what are your thoughts:
svt-40
Sks
Mosin Nagant
Vz58

And don't want this new
Type 81

For me:

AK (own one in 5.56, one in 7.62x39)
Vz58 (own two, both 7.62x39, 7.5" and 11.8")
Sks-d (own one)

Really couldn't care less about the rest of the red rifles, including the type 81, but if I was going to prioritize...

SKS (do own a couple, just because)
Type 81 (won't bother buying)
SVT40 (not really my thing, have shot but have never owned)
Mosin M44 (have owned, but sold)
Other Mosins (no interest at all)

Ok Ben - are you the same guy that suggested if the sks was a song, what would it be? I'm having weird flash backs now.

VZ - own 1, Most accurate with best groups. Best outta all.
SVT 40 - own 1, want 2, Meh accuracy but you bullets flying by pop cans will take them out.
SKS - own 2 used to own 8 - Can throw rocks the same but still love em. Some are much better then others.
Mosin - Own 2 used to own 4 - Decent accuracy but the sights drift over 1000's of rounds and issues with 2 of mine i sold for cheap

Oh dear, I have been sent down a rabbit hole with this ^^ idea! Here is my list with accompanying song:

SVT-40.....The Darth Vader theme from the original movie.
SKS......... "We are young" by "Fun"
M-N.........."Love hurts" by ?

And the one I least want; AK-47....."I don't want what I can't have" by Sinead O'connor:(

Own all but the mosin. Got the svt first, just because there was a scare that you might not be able to find them much longer (unfounded so far)Of all the red rifles I think it's the most desirable. Then the CZ. Would have got it first, its what made me want my PAL in the first place, but it was the most expensive. Got the sks because of the canam combo. I'd like to get a mosin but I think I'll try and get an Enfield first. An AR is the next on the list tho.

The Mosin looks really lame when you first see it, long skinny wood and skinny barrel and only 5 rounds. But once you handle one without your friends with their AR's teasing you they are quite a fun rifle. It bucks cause of the light weight front end and the powerful round for the rifle. The fun part is being able to control all the negative aspects of the rifle and actually hitting something. Ammo is cheap so you don't get pissed off. But once you figure it out it is lots of fun. I cheated added a rubber cushion on the butt and a muzzle brake, timmney trigger, scope. Now I can hit targets. When I bought my first Mosin I quickly stuck it in the backseat and drove home having guys decked out in camo giving me strange looks for buying a rifle under $150, while they stroke their browning hunting rifles. I love the old rifles.

I don't mind the mosin. I've shot my buddy's. Maybe it was just his but you really have to slap the bolt around. After reading about the smooth action of the Enfield as well as the history, I just wanted one more. I plan on getting both. The mosin is just near the bottom of the list. Unless I can get a deal on a carbine length.

Very good, Bendeco! I like your thinking.

Anything but the SKS; I respect them but aside from if I needed a semi disposable beater, I couldn't ever see myself buying one.
