IN-STOCK NOW: Type 81 Picatinny Side Mounts + LMG Compensators + RU MIL PK06 Red Dots

i wonder why they didnt make the plate bigger so they could have placed the mount higher?
You usually want your optics to be as low as possible, and the 'step' in the Type81 receiver doesn't make things easy. You could probably use an RS Regulate sidemount and shoot the gun left handed no problem, since the locking mechanism doesn't protrude under the mount at all. A few other mounts would probably also do the trick.
On my folder, I placed the rail at the same height, but about an inch further forward. The mount I use juts over the ejection port, but it's more of a boon since I don't have to worry about brass striking the optic on top (the mount will just eat it instead). Obviously TI couldn't do that but for me it's perfect.

I have an T81, the accuracy is so so with irons, good plinker that's all

Would a more simpler design be a railed dust cover like on a 858 or AK?

Or is this more expensive to produce?

This would 100% accommodate left and right hand shooters

Dust covers are stamped, which sounds easier to make but not really. You'd also need a way to fix the dust cover in place solidly, instead of just physically captured. So, hinge the cover in the front somehow and have stable contact points elsewhere.
Compared to slapping a rail on the side... Yeah, not happening.

Will the folder fold with the safety on the right side?
Yes. The stock can actually click in place even if it's not completely snug against the receiver. Got a buttpad on mine, which stops the stock from doing the whole 180 degree flip, but it still clicks in place. Even if the folder went and touched the safety (it won't), it would still lock in place.

Thanks, ordered

Just to confirm for everyone, I have tested a VZ58 brake on 2 LMGs, a 202020XY and 202017XY and I can confirm that the 202020XY works with the M14x1RH, and the that 202017XY does not (I assume it is M16x1RH). Am I reading it wrong, or is this the reverse of what TI is saying?

You've got it the other way, they're saying that 202020XY onwards is M14x1RH, anything prior is M16x1RH, which would agree with what you tested.

waiting for new Type 81 (not LMG) shipment, will there be any?

Was said there needs to be a military contact to piggyback off of Might happen might never happen... Anyways it will be long off if it happens at all
