In the event of a catastrophic failure with T97?

As the title says, I was just wondering if anyone has experienced one with the T97 yet? I feel like it would be a very dangerous situation as the cheek weld is so close to the chamber/bolt, and all thats guarding your face is plastic. It's almost enough to make me wanna sell mine.

Any thoughts?

Well I share the same line of touth as you, but I don't believe any Canadian model failed and I am not aware of any t 97 or qbz 95 failure.

I am willing to transfer the risk of catastrophic failure to myself for a small $20 fee. That is, you pay me $20 and I'll take the gun and the risk of using it. :p

dont get me wrong i love my t97. shoots great. Its just a little disconcerting when you strip it and theres a 5mm thick piece of plastic shielding your face from where things go bang.

The is actually about a 1.5" long section of the steel receiver on the left hand side that reduces the damage of such a detonation. As such, the majority of the force would be blasted out the right side and down through the magazine well.

Like others have said, there's a sliding piece of metal on the bolt carrier shielding the left hand side from an out of battery KB. If that is disconcerting, get a rifle that's not a bullpup.

It is an important topic. His only error really is leaving the question mark off title.

I too would like to know what these do when they fail.

And how similar are they to the real thing? Does the real PLA rifle have additional metal parts? Did swapping in a STANAG magwell compromise the effectiveness of that steel protector?

I am not going to stop shooting my t97 but I would love to know if I can abuse it like a battle rifle or if it justifies a little paranoia.

#### happens that's why there's emergency rooms. Don't worry too much about it or you'll quickly find it's no fun. Besides have you ever thought about what would happen if you had a kb in a bolt gun and the bolt decided not to stay where it's supposed to.

This.
I am far more paranoid of some of my bolt guns (for no good reason, I don't actually believe it will fail). I have this mental image of the bolt coming back to clock me straight in the face.
With most semi auto's, bullpup or not, most failures I've seen involve the catastrophic destruction of the rifle but most of the time nothing seems to come "straight back".

I have a solution to save your face:
