what if your home is located in a hunting zone? would you be able to shoot the restricted in the same backyard you hunt in?

Not in the backyard since it would be outside of your house and would require an ATT as I understand it (the ATT refers to the residence not the property). Whether you could shoot it through a window from inside the house is something I've wondered about but I have never checked the laws to be sure.

As already stated, it would be outside. IF...you can shoot/hunt on your property (I was hunting deer on a friends place not 5 minutes from my home), then I would assume the only hurdles are whatever the CFO puts up, if any.

Very interesting.

so in theory once you step out of the building you need an ATT? even if you are going to your backyard? is this written somewhere?

Yes this is true but from my understanding is that the ATT is from you dwelling and not the property so once you leave your dwelling (house) you need an ATT and the only way you can get an ATT is is you belong to an approved range which is if you don't get your private range approved then your restricted firearms legally can not leave your dwelling.

But the original question was about having a range inside your dwelling. So you don't need an ATT. And why would you need the range approved if you don't need an ATT?

You dont. That is what he is not getting.

There is nothing in the law that says the only place you can fire a restricted is at a range
There is nothing in the law that says the only place you can transport a restricted with an ATT is to a range
There is nothing in the law that says that says you require a range membership to get an ATT

maybe you need an ATP. Authorization to punctuate.
lol

No I get it. But just try to shoot a restricted firearm on your property and when the RCMP and LEO show up try to stay that to them and see how far you get, you better have deep pockets because your going to need them because the charges that will be brought up against you, you will be in and out of court for a very longtime as well as you will be spending a longtime in jail. And that the truth. So just try to put a range in your basement and see how far it gets you because even with sound proofing you can still hear the gunshots because you can't muffle out a 100% of the sound and as soon as someone hears ever the slightest gunshot sound and the cops will be busting down your door, and anyone that would put a gun range in their basement and would jeopardize anyone's life that is in another room or upstairs deserves to root in Jail. Oh and you will never get the municipal government to sign off on a range in your basement when you check out the bylaws and yes the municipal government must know about the range and where it is. I know this because I am in the process of trying to open a range.and yes there isn't any laws that says the only place you can transfer your restricted with an ATT is to the range but the CFO says the only place is to an approved range and in some provinces to a gunsmith and last no there isn't any laws that says you need a membership to a range to get an ATT but again the CFO says you do.

Ya I know my punctuality sucks but I don't give a rats a$$ but there's no need for you to be a douche like a lot of others that like to pick on my punctuality and spelling. This is suppose to be a place that people can come and share their knowledge of firearms and to help those who don't know much about them and not a place where you get picked on and made fun of because they don't know how to spell or they don't have the greatest punctuality. It's people like you that make people like me not want to be here or make us feel intimidated to even say anything. I know you are just going to make fun of me for saying this but I don't care and I know I'm going to get an infraction or suspended or even banned for saying what I'm going to say but I really don't care so to all those who like to pick on other you can all go pi$$ off.

I agree

You cant that is illegal.

You really need to read the law

So just try to put a range in your basement and see how far it gets you because even with sound proofing you can still hear the gunshots because you can't muffle out a 100% of the sound

Hundreds if not thousands of people do everyday

as soon as someone hears ever the slightest gunshot sound and the cops will be busting down your door,

100% BS

Any where it is legal to discharge firearms, firearms are usually discharged and the world doesn't end. Just because your scared to do what is legal doesn't make it illegal.

and anyone that would put a gun range in their basement and would jeopardize anyone's life that is in another room or upstairs deserves to root in Jail.

LOL this just proves my point even more.

Just like all gun owners are mass murderers ticking like a time bombs right? You have no leg to stand on so now your building BS fantasies to make you BS position seem legitimate. Strawman much LOL

Oh and you will never get the municipal government to sign off on a range in your basement when you check out the bylaws and yes the municipal government must know about the range and where it is.

Really? So every time you fire one of your non restricted you get permission form the municipal government? If you answered no you disproved your own argument.
I am sorry but you are talking out your ass.

I know this because I am in the process of trying to open a range.

LOL ok sure

and yes there isn't any laws that says the only place you can transfer your restricted with an ATT is to the range but the CFO says the only place is to an approved range and in some provinces to a gunsmith and last no there isn't any laws that says you need a membership to a range to get an ATT but again the CFO says you do.

And all that has been struck down in court, if you dont have the balls to say no that does not make it the law.

Punctuality doesn't mean having good punctuation, it means being on time.

So yes, we are going to make fun of you for saying this.

Not to be a douche but spelling and punctuation count.

Especially when talking about the law, such as you said property when you meant dwelling, and transfer when you meant transport. Each word means something very different when it comes to the legislation, and that makes what you are trying to say mean something very different.

We all make mistakes, but it pays to be precise.
