As the title suggests, best bang for the buck in 5.56/.223. What would you suggest? I am very partial to black rifles but pricing and decent accuracy a must. Let’s say under 1500

Wk180-c, Kel-Tec RDB, or budget SLR/Modern Sporter build.

That would be pretty tight - I`d be impressed if it could be done but with the receiver chewing up pretty much 2/3 of the budget (~$1000) right at the outset it'd be tricky

I haven't really read up on the Modern Sporter so I might be out to lunch but my guess would be $1500 would buy you half of one......

A cheeky offer on a beat up Tavor *might* be the best you could hope for but even then it would be a stretch

Edit - I noticed you mention decent accuracy so the Tavor might not fit the bill (I say that as a X95 owner) - maybe try a beat up SL8

If the Kelt-tec doesn't leave you much wiggle room, take a look at a T97 Gen 2 (flat top pic rail from factory) still a bit of leeway for a decent optic.
Quality on those are a lot better than they used to be, super impressed with mine.

Maybe try a bolt action, they also come in the tactical variety. Try a Rem 700 or Ruger presision rifle there are a few other options . I find them fun to shoot to.

WK-180C blows the rest of what’s mentioned out of the water as intended and will cost less to boot. Outfitted with some sights/optic, mags, sling and a bit of ammo and you will be at the $1500 limit.
The T-97 ? Junk
SLR, Modern Sporter, X-95/Tavor, SL-8, etc.? All will all be out of your price range. If you find one of these in that price range, it is likely to have mechanical issues.
The Keltec RDB is in that price bracket, but imho pales next to the WK...and then you have to outfit it with accessories.

Dude, definitley not junk, but to each their own.

More so depends on what platform (AR-style or bullpup) you want to run and be proficient with, have shot both the Kel-tec and WK, both great rifles, just depends on what your into, and how long you want to wait before buying one. There's still a pretty good wait for the WK

Definitely some options for sure. The Wk180-c is an interest for sure, the wait time not so much. The Ruger mini, anyone have that one and what are your thoughts on it?

Wk180c or new 58x series mini 14.
The mini 14 is my one and only go to semi NR 223 now.
My only regret was not listening to idiots on here trashing it constantly and picking one up sooner.
You will want to swap the rear sight for a tech site if youre into irons like me though. You can pick up like new used ones for around 800 if you look around.

x2. I don't have one anymore, but I definitely want to pick up one of the newer versions in the future. Very reliable, tough truck gun. Not as accurate as many other guns out there, but minute of coyote out to 200 meters or so.

Sorry, I agree with beltfed, it's a disposable toy with no warranty and no parts support. If you buy one that has issues you have to hope the retailer is willing to stand behind it.
I shot one of the first ones and the sights were garbage, the ergonomics were meh, and the build quality left a lot to be desired. Maybe if it was priced similarly to the Norinco AR-15 it would be a decent deal but not for $1000.
If you spend the money to make a T97 a FTU or buy the FTU version you've spent more money than the WK-180C and you've still got a rifle made in China with no warranty.

No thanks, if you like yours then good for you but I can't recommend anyone buy one when there are better options available for less money.

"Decent accuracy" ?? Depends on wat that means to u..

But for under $1500 a used MR1 or POSSIBLY a new gen mini 14 are really the only rifles that will stand out accuracy wise.. . All other sub $1500 options will be more 2-3moa with non reloads.
