I had a friend of mine have a rather nasty experience with Burris warranty service. Basically they sent him a hard-sell worded letter trying to make him purchase one of their brand new scopes rather than have them fix his old one he'd sent in. They were offering the new scope at a discount, but still were asking enough that I bet they were going to make money on the deal. The letter also (erroneously it turned out) indicated that it would be 6 months to a year (if ever) that it would take them to repair his scope he'd sent in. He stuck to his guns, and got his scope back (repaired) in fairly short order, but he and I both were left with a pretty slimey feeling about the whole deal.
That, and unless something's changed in the last year, Burris warranty service involves shipping it back and forth to the U.S. -- and we all know how much fun that kind of deal can be these days.
I'm not terribly opposed to Burris, butI wouldn't have one after seeing how they treated my buddy.
If I'm spending "real money" on a scope, it'll be Bushnell, Leupold, or Nikon for me (and maybe Weaver now that ATK owns them).
