A friend of mine was given an original Colt Navy 1951 by his father. My friend doesn't know anything about guns and he was using it as a book rest thinking it was a replica. After finding out about it, he contacted the Colt archives department to order a letter for it but he was told that Colt only have records for Colt Navy 1851 pistols between serial #1 and 12 000.
The serial # of his pistol is 34 737 all matching numbers.
The pistol is stamped on the wooden grip with the letters U.C. upside down, the number 95 and what appears to be a C or a G.
The Cylinder is covered with the naval scene which is still vivid and not worn out.
The gun isn't pitted or rusted and is covered with a nice patina finish all over.
The action still works pretty good and timing seems to be fine.
He also has a holster made of black leather and in good condition.
Looking for any useful info on this pistol.
Pics to follow tonight as I'm at work at this time.
Thanks for your help.
