Federal Premium introduces the TruBall Deep Penetrator rifled slug to its Vital-Shok ammunition line. These new options get great accuracy out of smoothbore shotguns and are designed specifically for use on animals with tough hide and bone.
TruBall Deep Penetrator slugs are built with harder (higher antimony) lead than the traditional TruBall to achieve better penetration. The new slugs feature a more distinct shoulder for extra toughness and are designed to get 18”-20” of penetration.
“Smoothbore shotgunners will benefit from these tough slugs,” said Brand Manager Rick Stoeckel. “The harder lead helps these new slugs get excellent penetration. And a larger hollow-point means consistent, controlled expansion. Big game hunters are going to love the performance.”
When Federal Premium set out to make a smoothbore slug more effective for the standard slug slinger, the Vital-Shok Slug TruBall system was created. Federal’s engineers reinvented, redefined slug technology so that hunters can get great accuracy without changing barrels.
As with the standard TruBall slug, these new versions are guided down the barrel with a unique and simple plastic ball between the wad and the slug. This helps stabilize the slug in flight and results in amazing accuracy from smoothbore shotguns."
So we are still awaiting a finalized list of cartridges to be tested, then we have to get them imported for testing.
