I have done some searching and have not found the answer so here goes:

I am looking to install XS ghost ring sights on my 870 express and I want to get the "new" XS24/7 Tritium stripe front site. How do they attach the site to the front of the barrel  I do not want to put on the banded front site because I am worried about it getting knocked out of alignment. When I get the sights I will be taking them to Shooters Choice to have them installed, I do not want screw up the gun by trying to install them myself because then I would :puke: .

If this is covered somewhere else please point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance

You don't like Scattergun tech. ghost ring sights? Only $209 installed....tritium front and rear sight.

Most of the sights are epoxied and pinned in place or silver soldered......the first method is the cheapest install, as you don't have to parkerize the barrel again.

BRAMEL, can you provide me with the contact info?
Thanks.

In order to silver solder them, how does one remove the tritium insert?

XS sights install on a standard dovetail mount. Solder on the front sight ramp of your choice and slide on the XS sight after.

According to TSE's site, XS front sight systems need existing .125 - .140 bead diameter to mount on. Just checked my HP9 and the bead is too big (.150) so anybody who wants that system on his Norinco will need to figure a work around.
(Probably the only way is to re-thread the existing 3.5 mm metric and install a new bead.)

This is only true if all you want to do is replace the bead with a tritium dot. It is epoxied over the bead.

If you want to install an XS front sight to be used with a rear sight, than you will have to solder on a dovetailed front sight ramp that is the proper height for the rear sight you plan to use.

I've had the XS 'banded' front sight (with rear ghost ring) on my 870 for about a year now...

...and - after well over 1000 shells - it shows absolutely no signs whatsoever of loosening or being knocked out of alignment. Properly installed, it's pretty much 'bomb proof'.

^^ Nice looking gun. I really want a SpecOps stock on my 870 but everybody that I contact is waiting for them to be shipped up :( I wish it was not so difficult to get the good stuff up here.

teclaydon - I don't normally do 'nice gun' posts, but I have to say, that one is a beauty. How much do you have in to it (if you don't mind me asking?) -> $$ ?

Thanks. I purchased the SpecOps about a year ago, which was probably just a little bit ahead of when their popularity really gained momentum ...among those who like them, that is. At the time, there wasn't much of problem finding them in stock (pun not intended).

By the looks of your user name and signature line, it would appear that we have something else in common ...I was a Rad Op in the Reg Force (left as a WO in '96).

:canadaFlag: Cheers!

Thanks!

Probably more interesting than the dollar value would be if I just listed the 'goodies' that went into it:

- 18.5" 870 Express Synthetic w/factory mag extension
- Hogue forend
- Hogue 'HandAll' Grip Sleeve
- XS Banded Standard Dot Tritium Ghost-Ring Sights
- Knoxx SpecOps Stock
- Wilson Combat front sling bracket
- Tri-rail accessory mount
- Mesa Tactical 6-Shell aluminum side-saddle

Also, the entire gun was media blasted, parkerized, then re-finished (including any metal accessories) in black baked-on teflon.
