Not really sure which forum this falls under, but I figured you guys might be the best to ask:

It seems like most flashlights these days are almost always built with a bank of multiple leds instead of a single central bulb. It would seem to me, that this would provide a good platform for an integrated firearm mounted light, which would have a bank of leds, but omit the ones in the center and instead feature a laser. This would provide the shooter with that wide-angle wash of light that leds seem to do, while having a sighting laser right in the middle of the “beam” of light.

Does anyone make such a thing?

I know there are plenty of combo units featuring side by side lights and lasers, but I haven’t seen the setup mentioned above where the laser is integral to the light.

The core of a laser is much different than just a led chip. That would imply having some kind of dome with the led chips build into it which would have a hole in the center for the laser to pass thru and the laser core be straight behind it rather than having the power source (batteries).

It is most likely possible, but the hole in the dome would weaken the entire thing making it susceptible to be more fragile when dropped, plus the fact the laser core is behind would make the thing bigger. Add to that it would probably be a pain to adjust and doubt it would hold zero. That would all end up being just something NCstar would do for airsoft and no actual shooter would ever use.

If all the concerns I raised would be solved, it would make for a really expensive unit, if that is even possible.

Hmm. Yeah I guess I wasn’t so much thinking about a flash light with a laser stuffed into the middle of it, so much as I was thinking of a decent laser with a few rings of leds around them.

As for the dome, I know on aircraft landing lights, they don’t use a single done for the whole bank, but rather each led is recessed into its own.

Walther FLR 650 LED

Walther flashlights are not Milspec or anything and usually show up on airsoft/ .22 rifle's but if it's for light use it's pretty much as described.

Bingo. Exactly what I was imagining.

Hmm. Now to find one robust enough for a shotgun...

Yea, that one is not going to survive on a shotgun.

TNVC is a US site that you should look at if you don't know it already.

I honestly don't think it exists.

They all seem to be over/under or side by side.

Which is fine really, it’s just kind of nice to have both units so sleek together like that.

A great site that we can't buy from... I just want some L3 Sentinels :ang:ang:ang
