Interac EMT's now flagging firearms sales.

No you wouldn't. You're going to transfer your mortgage to a new lender, re-establish all of your credit cards, overdraft and line of credit with a new bank and then re-do all of your pre-authorized payments? Everyone likes to take a tough stance online but when push comes to shove they usually cave.

I would literally do this, I've done it for a free iPad from RBC. This seems more serious then an iPad.

you make a good point. for me id be asking the bank how else are you going to govern and hold my money.
its about them coming up short in general.
id definitely be asking the next bank if they fallow the same practice regarding all this.

just my thoughts and intal reaction.

I know the President and CEO of Interac... I'll give him a call tomorrow and see if he can shed some light on the situation. I highly doubt this is a directive from the top.

As we stated before, 3 of the people who contacted their bank were told that the money was held, because the word firearms was part of the recipient they were sending money to.

ahhh! didn't see that the bank had specified that in your previous posts. yes, please let us know which bank so we may also inquire and follow up with them, once you've confirmed just whose policy this is.

Just a page from the American SJW playbook actually, some banks down south have been hindering the business of gun shops forcing the owners to find other smaller/regional banks.

SHTF likely when MasterCard and Visa stop permitting their system to be part of a firearms sale.

Neither Visa nor Master Card would ever do this. Gun business is big business in the US. If either institution stopped accepting gun transactions they would be handing a billion dollars + worth of corporate customers business to their biggest competitor.

Interac/EMT has a state protected monopoly.

Interac is a non-profit association of pretty much every bank and most of the big credit unions in Canada.

That just means they have to spend all their profits on an annual basis.

If Interac is the one flagging the transactions, then it shouldn't really matter what bank you are working with. All would be affected. Nothing in the news or on Interac's website about this. I suspect Interac has a robot scanning for key words as part of their ongoing due diligence to not facility criminal activity, and the search terms weren't well thought out.

I hope that once a human being reviews what the robot found, common sense will prevail. Shopify and other platforms recently took a political stand and stopped supporting gun businesses. It took less than a weekend before other businesses step into the void.

IF interact wants to stop supporting the gun industry, so be it. Some new transfer service, or an old fashioned credit card, will easily replace it.

Maybe my reading comprehension is better than others but the EMTs are being held because Frontier Firearms has an email address that probably reads joeblow@frontierFIREARMS.com not because of any mention of firearms in a question line in the EMT.

This is definitely worth Frontier Firearms taking up with Interac or their bank and as others have mentioned name the bank.

Also it's Interac not Interact.
