Interest in Mossberg 590A1 14" or 14" 590A1 CYL/MOD Barrels imported by Irunguns?

About 2 years ago I tried to get a heatshield for my Mossberg 590A1 from Aimpro. It was a nightmare experience. Lots of back and forth and no work actually ever occurred. I'd still put money down for a complete 14" 590A1 shotgun but I wouldn't hold my breath on this.

As I recall, US Fed Law defines a 14" barrel as a class 3 device all by itself. In Canada, it is just an unregulated item as long as it is "manufactured." Would I wrong in assuming there would be a tax stamp on the barrels that would make them pretty expensive - disproportionately so compared to a whole gun?

Feel free to let me know if I am out to lunch here. :)

No its an SBS. $5 tax stamp

If IRG can get these it would be a first, we have been denied 4 export permits for short barrled shotguns.
3 of the Mossberg Dist and told us no they cant export
Remington Canada aka Gravle agency has also told us no many times, to the point they have asked us if we make them they would buy from us.
( but of course we cant make them at a price that would work for them)
3 Ithaca importers have had no luck getting approval, but one has said they can, but its been 6months and not a word on it yet.

Police gunsmiths have taken to chopping down 18 inch bbls instead of trying to get approval for 14 inch for US state dept.

So if IRG has the something no one else has in Canada then i,m all over that.

I've read on American forums that regular citizens purchased 14" barrels from Aimpro. Irunguns, being an American company can purchase these and then export to Canada (they said it's possible).

Unsure of the laws in the USA, they seem to be even more confusing than here. I received this email:

"I understand 14” shotguns are ok in Canada, it’s our Commerce Department that has not allowed export to Canada. Hopefully this will change in the near future".

We are a class 3 dealer in the USA. Therefore we have the ability to receive class 3 transfers from other dealers. What this means in english is the customer can purchase a class 3 SBR (Rifle with a barrel length of less than 16" and has a stock such as Colt LE6933) or AOW (IE shotgun with barrel under 16" such as Serbu Super Shorty) from a dealer in the USA, have the gun transferred to IRUNGUNS and we can then export the firearm to Canada. This does not mean we can facilitate the export of ALL class 3 weapons, such as Fully Automatic Weapons (illegal for Civilian end users), Destructive Devices (IE M203, Lahti 20mm, Boys AT rifle, etc) as our blanket IIC (International Import Certificate) covers anything up to and including .50 BMG but not larger for civilian end users. Also the Canadian governement will no longer allow firearms over .50 BMG to be imported into the country for civilian ownership even if they are non-restricted due to the Controlled Goods Act. Also there are certain items that are controlled by ITAR that the US simply will not let out of the country even if they are legally admissible into Canada. Also be aware if you intend on purchasing a class 3 firearm in the USA for export to Canada the dealer to dealer class 3 transfers in the USA are taking an average of over 3 months.

Well heres the problem (at least one of the problems) , theyre applying for a permit to the wrong department, for a shotgun with a barrel Under 18", it's the US State dept who handle the control for these guns, no wonder why the Commerce Dept hasn't allowed the export.

I contacted Mossberg Canada and this is the reply I got. He might not know what the problem is... I followed up with an email, lets see what he says.

Mossberg Canada???
who is that, is did not know they had an office or distributor in Canada?
or did you talk to one of the companies that import Mossberg?

I actually made inquiries regarding the 14" Mossberg 590A1's last week...I guess the issue is the U.S. State Dept. doesn't want to allow these north of the border. Not sure if they will change their tune if several dealers push for them to be allowed up here??? In any case I have my eye on about 3 variations so you can count me in if this becomes a possibility!

Either you have contacted the export dept of Mossberg in the US or a big Canadian distributor.

Mossberg doesn't have any offices in Canada.

There is also a possibility that Mossberg may have an internal policy to sell these short barreled shotguns only to LE agencies or military like Remington does.
That could also explain why they don't export short barreled shotguns and why they only deal with the US Commerce dept.

It's people like you that make me feel sane. I thought I was crazy buying 3-4 of the same guns lol.

Not necessarily, The manufacturer may have an internal policy not to sell these guns to civilians, Remington does have such a policy, and if a dealer/exporter want to handles them for export, they must have a SOT license ( as those are NFA fireams) AND be ITAR registered at the US State dept.
Not many exporter have SOT licenses.

Hopefully Irunguns will chime in. Not worth us getting into a frenzy for something that may not be exportable here.

We just placed an order for 10 Factory 14" 590A1's but they are backordered. We'll throw them on next months permit along with 14" barrels and see if it is approved. Yes we have and SOT.

^ Did you talk to this guy? Claims to have found actual stock:

So I found a bunch of 14" 590a1 in the states.They're model 51683 590a1 with pistol grip.
The company in question is an importer and exporter, what are the actual rules regarding importing this? From looking around it seems that this will meet the 26.5" and I shouldn't have further restrictions aside from the US paperwork. The American paperwork this company says they will handle. Advice on best course of action? Should I still go through an importer? Do I have to?

That's great and thanks very much! How much are we looking at for the complete gun, and how much just for the barrel/kits? And for those who want just the barrel, will you also have the appropriate parts (mag tube, slide assembly etc..) that will allow the fitting of a 14" barrel?
