So I went to Phoenix range in Edmonton this evening (Friday) to shoot my pistols and try out a few things. Mostly technique at different distances. After my warm-up and then precision rounds, I took some time to reload a few mags for each pistol; a Glock 17 and a Shadowline.
So I got to the second mag, and to my left I saw an incredible flash and heard an enormous boom! I put down what I was doing and backed out of the stall. I really thought someone's gun blew up. Then as I backed up far enough, I saw that it was someone shooting a .50 cal Desert Eagle. He was taking instruction from an RSO and only shooting one round at a time.
Incredible! I've never seen one of these fired. I really couldn't do any more in my stall right next to this, until they were finished. It was that loud and the flash was that intense. Then, the person's girlfriend or wife had a try. By this time, everyone in the range stopped shooting and came over to watch.
I must say, that is one hand cannon! Maybe I'll try one some day...
