So say there is a Club that has 30 or so active shooters. Lets also say they have a Range time of 7 PM to 10 PM. They want to hold a level one match on that night. Now say the Sign up was Open to all IPSC members. Now not everyone that belongs to that club checks emails daily, or even weekly. Now say 10 Club members are able to sign up for the Match, the rest of the 20 slots are taken by Non-Members, because they watch their emails daily etc. etc. and are able to sign up before the Club Members.
What do you tell the Other 20 Club members? They would like to shoot the match, but weren't able to get a slot. Doesn't seem very fair to me. I mean, we would basically be taking dedicated Range time away from Paying members, I know if I was one of the ones not able to get a slot, I would be steaming mad!
Simple. Don't make it a sanctioned IPSC match, then you can do whatever you want.
Two of my home clubs are running non-sanctioned club matches every week (4pm to 11pm). Those are also open to non-member shooters. There is usually 20 to 40 people participating in those matches. Unfortunately, like I already mentioned, most of those participants are not interested in shooting ICS stages.
