Introducing the HS3 Chassis System

Its wierd that the comparison is the:

HSR - $800 with a stock
Cadex - $1100 - $2500
GRS Bolthorn - $1800

Even the Cadex Lite strike which is the cheapest option is nearly 50% more money than the HS3. Having held the Bolthorn, I hated the grip. Its a folded over hollow piece of plastic. (I have a GRS laminate so I like the ergos)
The one suggestion I do have on the HS3 having put together 4 of them now is go with the Magpul PRS for the stock. Much more solid lock up than the Skeleton stock.

I really like the HS3, great ergos, nice stock. Excellent fit and finish for a drop in solution. Nice balance and feel.

I also don't like the lockup with the skeleton stock. I am considering epoxy to completely attach it. But then it is permanent.

Fair enough, but that is the beauty about our chassis as well. You do not have to use the Skeleton stock. You can use a Magpul PRS, Luth AR or any other AR-15 buttstock.

Money doesn't matter, I have a successful rapping career. :)

I appreciate the insight, excellent information.

I ordered up an hs3 and a Luth mba1 stock.
Grs bolthorn was a three month wait, cadex was also a three month wait. Screw that, I went down that road once with Northshore and my xlr chassis. Three months turned into six months pretty quick.

MDT

Need a little clarification. Website states:

MDTTac.ca said:
The rifle action only makes contact with the HS3 chassis on the V shape bedding and recoil lug area insuring the best accuracy and repeatability.

The generous clearance on the fore-end makes any barrel up to the size of the action itself free floated.

For a Rem 700 Long action in 300 WM, what is that measurement. Have a barrel with a 1.25" shank and want to know if that will work with this chassis.

Thanks for your time and look forward to your informative response.

Right, just waiting on my magpul prs now. How do I remove the front sling stud? Does it just unscrew or do I have to take the chassis apart then unscrew it etc? I see on the diagram its got a nut inside the chassis, will this rattle around if I just unscrew the stud?

I've got the rail but the stud protrudes slightly with the rail on so Id prefer to remove it.

noticed that there weren't a lot of pics, so this is my attempt to fix that....

I love both my MDT chassis...I think the HS3 is finished....

My HS3 arrived in the mail this morning. So naturally I had to take off work early today. I got the MDT polymer mag and also the AccurateMag steel mag. Going to need to find a more comfortable pistol grip though if I can find one that will fit right, or maybe just modify a magpul one.

Finished my range trip with a nice 10 round group at 100 yards at about 0.68" center to center. 77gr SMK over IMR 4064.

I am looking for a way to attach a sling to the side of the stock.

The best way would be to attach the sling to the side rail. There is no way that we know of that would allow you to skip the rail, unless you were able to make a custom sling adapter that mounts to one of the screw holes.

Argghhh, I did a bad thing.

Ive just put an ergo grip on my HS3 (replacing the hogue grip). While screwing the ergo grip back on I have cross threaded the screw. :(

Im guessing its a trip to the gunsmiths to me.

Any words of reassurance/advice?

It should be no great cost to have a helicoil installed, can be done by yourself or a mechanically inclined friend.

Dratt, the Magpul QD studs that can be purchased for adding to their stocks work awesome in it. Haven't had a chance to run it in the field yet as I've been dealing with some accuracy issues, but pending that it seems very solid in there. I have done the same thing to a XCR-M to make the stock QD ready and have run it extensively in the bush with great success.
