IPSC @ Barrie and No Provincials (Followup)

The situation as it stands now is as if NONE of it ever happened.
While that can never be truly how it is, it is time to try and forget this and move forward.

So, we're back to co-match directors, good to hear this.

Well let me ask you one question then (remembering that I am on the outside looking in and have no first hand knowledge and as such am not making any accusations)

If you had it to do over again...would you do anything differently?

I would have to say NO!

Nonesense...

You all seem quite convinced that all sides have been equally and fairly represented in this (and the other) thread.

My guess is that the threads have been rather one sided...and the BOD chose not to make this a public spectacle (and good for them for making that decision)

No one who has so generously given up their free time to ##### and moan in the two offending threads can say they have full visibility on what happened...from all sides.

Case and point...it has been resolved...and you guys are still beating it to death...

Something tells me there will be alot of 6 inch ports at the Super 3 gun this year :runaway:

What has been resolved?

What mechanisms have been put into place to ensure that something like this does not happen again?

WHO has been found at fault?

What if any were the consequences?

Until those concerns are brought to a conclusion this will fester.

I would have to say NO!

Well...that's an eye opening statement...at least from my perspective.

I've never found my self in any situation that went in the tank (either personally or professionally) where I could have categorically said that there wasn't something I could have done differently...

Mystery solved though...you guys are obviously all perfect

That is what I was trying to get at.....you just stated it better than I....

And it was Gordon Hewart who said it the first time........
I just like quotes that capture the real ideas of value in the world. His being one of them.

That said...........I am glad that things are on the mend.

Glad that the Provincials are back on track.

GLAD and hopeful that the concerns listed above are going to be addressed in the near future.

So, we're back to co-match directors, good to hear this.

The way it was presented to BGC there was always going to be 2 Match Directors; one from BGC and Rachel Blum. From what was presented by our interim IPSC rep. It is my understanding there will only be 1 Range Master.

And it was Gordon Hewart who said it the first time........

Well...personally...I try to make a genuine effort to not quote Liberals.

...just saying...

PS...I think the first part of the original quote was actually different...but I can't bring myself to correct it (see above point for further details)

Now back to regularly schedule #####ing and moaning

I never thought of myself as perfect. I have MANY flaws. Ask my wife!
Under the SAME conditions, I would do it again. I just do not like being pushed around.
It's my style right or wrong to push back.
I just hope that something good will come out of it.
Hopefully a Great Provincials and a Great time had by all.

...........and without the swollen melon.........5'6" !!!!!:nest:

Sorry Quig.....can't help myself........."chief"......tee hee !!!!!!:p

Some of these guys just kill me still trying to kiss up to you....:adult:

Good to hear that the Provincials are back on track officially now. We should let the past rest........doesn't mean we have to ignore it though.

To paraphrase:"If we forget the past, then we are destined to repeat it." I think Storm was referring to that line as well.

We should also not dwell on anyone's errors or misjudgements forever. I think many of those involved....even if they cannot/would not admit it.....would do things differently knowing what they know now. That is the important thing. ;)

Well...I wasn't in your place...so I'm in no position to speculate on what you should have done...but:

hypothetically speaking...if...(and I'm just pulling this out of the air)...I found myself in a conflict with the Section Coordinator (for example) over...oh I don't know...let's just say...my status and a Club rep..and, what the hell...let's throw in my status as a CRO...despite how I may or may not have contributed to the situation...I would (in this order):

  1. Try and resolve it with the Section Coordinator. If unsuccessful I would,
  2. Bring it to the attention of the entire Board of Directors, it that didn't satisfy me, I would
  3. Call the Regional Director of IPSC Canada...and the President of NROI Canada...

Then I'd have a Mojito...and a Monte Cristo # 4 and let them figure it out (because that's what they were elected to do)

I must admit, you do have a point.

Could have, would have, should have...... I don't know. I think when people put things in writing, it is just so much more severe.

I did what I did for a friend and for myself. (I do not like to be bullied.)

It is resolved now and time will tell if we (me included) will learn from it.
I just hope there will not be a next time.

  1. Since her name was on the letter in question as one of the authors and was quite definative I would not have bothered to even try.
  2. Again it was "supposed" to be part of a unanimous BOD decision the same answer as #1 applies
  3. That might have been an option but I when things go this far off the rails it is vital that the general membership be informed. Otherwise we would not have the vital data that we have now.
  4. this list thing is cool!

So you wouldn't try and resolve it...you just come straight to Gunnutz...

FYI...if any of you guys think that this thread in any way contributed to the resolution of the issues...you reeeeaaaaaly need to stop flattering yourselves...;)
