I think the big picture here that people are forgetting is that matches are put on by VOLUNTEERS. They are not paid, nor conscripted, and in order to do a good job you need to motivate them.. If there is an existing relationship between the club and it's members who will be doing 80% of the work to put on this match, then it should be respected, and promoted. It would appear that rather then work with the group who is doing the vast majority of the work, the ruling bodies (or some of them who knows..) has decided to make the decision and say "This is what it is"..

The rules clearly say that it can be the boards decision, BUT it does not HAVE TO BE.

Heavy handed decisions tend to have this reaction by people who are doing everyone a favor to go out of their way to put on the best match possible.

It does not seem that this was well thought out before the decisions where made at the top.

Wasn't that pre 96?

May have to break into Arancio's stash of old Sitreps for a reference.:D

My impression from those days is that after the split, the wind got taken out of the sails on some projects started prior, such as incorporation and constitutional renewal.

Wow.. it seems we have a new Match Policy and Procedures on the IPSC Ontario web site..

http://www.ipsc-ont.org/docs/matchpol.pdf

and one of their policies seems to contradict their perceived ability to unilaterally remove a club rep.

"At a meeting held by only the IPSC members of that club, they shall ELECT an IPSC representative or "club rep"..

there is NO statement that they need to approve or can override that decision.

AS for questions about the posted "constitution".. I suggest everyone look at the Jan 2010 board minutes. it's discussed there ;)

Same for possible alternate sites.. the list is in the minutes as well ;)
