IPSC Carry Condition

You could shoot 40 minor. 40 Light load is very soft. Softer then 9mm. I do shoot sometimes minor 40.

You can, but if you don't reclaim your brass you're spending a lot more on 40 vs 9mm brass (you of course know this, but I'm directing this at the OP). My point is that 9mm is cheaper to run then 40.

Definitely worth considering. Most matches are considered "lost brass". That is, there's no time between shooters or squads to pick up your spent cases, so cost of components is a factor. 40 Minor is always an option, but I've generally found slow 40's to be marginally less accurate than fast 9's. Either will work but 9 just seems to work better.

If you're thinking about the M&P40 just because you want one, that's fine. IPSC definitely promotes "run what you brung". However if you're choosing a gun to compete with the 9 is a better choice. Production class doesn't recognize Major or Minor calibers. Everything is scored as Minor. The additional recoil of the 40 would put you at a disadvantage. You could shoot the 40 in Standard / Major which scores non-center hits a little higher but the double stacked single action 40's dominate that class.

I should have mentioned the 40 would be for a move to standard. And because I've always wanted one hehe
