Phuleeze tell me that this match will not be as the usual Ontario drivel of " Oh, we're a great match, we have swinger on every stage! Oh, we're so good look at us. Pay us an hundrecd bucks then f/o! Now shut up and let us treat you like s**t!"

I ran into this at the Nats last year and at the Prov's this year and I'm still far from impressed. USPSA treats me better than the wankers here!

No, I was not drinking when I posted this.

Rant on: (I've already received a couple of emails and calls about my post)

I felt that the ROing at the Prov's left alot to be desired (not all of the RO's just some). I ran into RO's that didn't have a clue about the rules and some who were overly officious and treated shooters like crap.... alot like last years Nat's!

I'm normally a friendly, approachable guy but I had about enough of this crap the other day. Plus, I read the other thread and everyone seems to feel this was a great match. I disagree. The stages lacked imagination (there was usually only one way to shoot them), there were swingers everywhere which is fine but it was getting to be a bit much. All steel was black so it was difficult to get good sight pictures with iron sights (I thought we learned something from last years Nats?).

It took over 10.5 hours to get through the day so it really wasn't that efficiently ran. Shooting less than once per hour makes it extremely difficult to stay focused. The Area 7's had an equal number of stages and rounds fired and only took 5 hours.

Rant off.

I agree, I met you briefly last year at the bar with John K.

From what I have heard and have seen about one particular stage, it seemed to be set up more for an Open gun. When the top shooters in Production (a few have commented on that stage with the bobber from hell), have ,misses or just spray and pray, it does make one wonder.

All steel was black so it was difficult to get good sight pictures with iron sights

I thought IPSC rule encouraged the metal to be painted white....?

Not to open a can of worms (water under the bridge), but I still believe it (steel) was an equal challenge to all shooters at last years nationals.

good rant. You said what you really feel;)

If all the steel is black again I will be seriously pissed. Especially if it's sitting in the shade in front of black railway ties like last year. And will lobby for the steel to all be red next year in BC, just so "it's the same for all shooters".

The steel at next years Nationals will be Light Blue. We choose this color because we have a number of people in our sport who are color blind and they can not see the color red.

So no worries for next year.

It will NOT be black.

Okay, I'm ready, I'm coming.. Plane ticket is done and I'm making final preparations with Mats for stay. He's talked to the match organizers and they have accepted me to teach an advanced ipsc class during the two break days, which for my schedule means Wednesday 2nd and Friday 4th.

I don't teach the basic stuff anymore, tired of that. Instead I'll go through all the interesting details that might bring you up a level or two. There is no way around practice and putting in time on the range, but what I can help you with is better ways to analyze the stages, the mindset you should strive for and ways to carve that mindset into your shooting-soul. You'll need about 350 rounds of ammo and 8 hours with me on the range if you can handle that ;-)

I've written it up on my website; http://henningshootsguns.com/canadaclass.html

Cost of the class is priced very reasonable, CDN 150. Dates as mentioned will be Wednesday and Friday. You can send me a message here to 'sinnsyk' or you'll find my email at my website. There's also a coverage of last year's match with pictures etc.

I started my website this spring so it's spankin' fresh, but it already has lots of coverage from matches 1998 till current. There's also some other articles that might be of interest to all internet lurkers.

Take it easy,
Henning Wallgren

Don't you all already know when you're shooting? I signed up a month ago and I've been assigned to Thursday/Saturday, giving me Wednesday and Friday off to give the classes.

Usually we don't find out until registration when we shoot, so most of us will find out Tuesday evening. Of course the gang at Kingston may have plans to release squads and such earlier. In the past though, when shooting times have been released, there has been a curious rash of people with travel issues with the result of being short handed on their work days. Especially on the first day of shooting. Obviously sinnsyk is a special case as he must arrange, or have arranged, a location for his course. can't do that if he doesn't know the dates beforehand. This may also have the result of a shooting schedule being released early so that the course can be filled. But even so, early registration deadline was just on Saturday. While the barebones of squads can be done early, slotting in blanks to set team schedules, until you are sure that 90% of your registrations are in, you can't set schedules. After all you want relatively equal squad size, spread out over the match, and you have to ensure a good spread of RO's and patchers in the work day squads. Then you have to deal with the squadding requests, which is a low priority, but something to do after the match squad issues are dealt with. It ain't fun and it ain't easy, and usually there is no upside to early release because it makes last minute juggling more difficult.

yep, in a way you ontario guys are spoiled/lucky to have the squadding system that you seem to have, which allows those of you who must to shoot and scoot, and to pick who and when you shoot with. no slam there, we all recognize that there are times that it is either an opportunity to shoot and scoot or not shoot at all.

hopefully anyone who is supposed to work and doesn't, either gets no score, if they've already shot, or doesn't get to shoot if they haven't already. Nothing pisses me off more than people that shoot and scoot without permission. (and yes I know it's unavoidable to have to leave sometimes, or arrive late, but please work that out before the match starts).
