IPSC Props

I've shot one of those before, the idea is to make sure it's a few feet in front of a target, if you just put the target right on the back of the steel plate, you get nasty shredding when people clip the edge of the target.

The club in Lethbridge has two (last I counted) 'Texas Stars'. Shooting them when they start out stationery is a challenge for the uninitiated. However, at one match you had to shoot a popper first and then run to the position where the Stars were both moving. On the Saturday match they were side by side and both were spinning in the same direction. On Sunday, one was in front of the other and were spinning in OPPOSITE directions. Talk about challenging!!!!!!

Yeah those are always fun :D Too bad we might not be able to use them much/at all anymore becuase of the new range rules (all steel must be shrouded by wood). Maybe there is a way.....

we need a work party to make a couple of railway ties bunkers to house them in. Come out to the next meeting for the 2008 Nationals to see further plans

WTF is this steel must be shrouded by wood nonesense? I knew Ontario had it, but since when for Alberta? and under what ruling are they doing this?

It's only at Lethbridge Fish & Game range since the Lethbridge Police Service launched some 9 mm rounds over the berm (and over the humungous hillside behind the berm) into a resdential area last spring!

re: the lethbridge range. the land the range sits on is owned by the city. the city police orginally said that the rounds left the range by a ricochet, which was later proved to be nonense, however the city rick management decided that it might happen and change the terms of the lease. we even showed them at a match that ricochet off of a forward falling steel popper cannot happen but the restriction still remains in place.

Or you can be like me at my first match on Saturday, wondering why I have bullets left when I should have run out. I watched myself on video last night, went past target on 2 separate occasions while reloading, will have to get a longer leg to kick myself with. But it was a lot of fun and everyone there was quite supportive and gave lots of advice.

We like to help as much as possible for new shooters, if only to make it fun and SAFE for everyone. All you need to do now is to buy more mags, take the Black Badge course, attend more club matches (remember to tell the RO that you are new to IPSC) and call the "bullets" cartridges. We are glad you had fun at Burke. Hope to see more of you and Andrew. Next time tell Slavex to show up early.
