Strange, most people describe 124s snappy compared to 147s...I am looking for a new IPSC recipe using a 124gr bullet with tight group. Up until recently I've been using 147gr but would like something a little less "snappy". Anyone willing to share????
I usually shoot 3.4gr of either VV N320 (becoming too hard to get) or 4.0 gr of tightgroup with a 147 encapsulated bullet.
OK, so it sounds like I may need to play with the powder instead of the bullet. If I can accomplish this with powder changes that would be great as I still have a few thousand 147gr left. Here's the background information.....

Last week I took a colleague shooting for the first in her life but did not have enough ammo. As I was coming off night shift I decided I would just buy a few boxes. I ended up with some Federal 124gr as they had a sale on it.....long story short, I really, really liked it!!! It felt very smooth!! The only difference was that I could really see the muzzle flash in the form of a cloud for lack of a better explanation coming out of my Sig pro.
With Titegroup and 147 Montana Gold FMJ or TMJs my load was 3.0 grains - out of a Glock 17, I've switched to N320 because it is far cleaner with the slower loads - same load with the N320 is 3.3 grains.
Where do you get your N320 from?? I used to load VihtaVuori and quite liked as it seems cleaner it but had trouble finding it in Calgary. That being said, the suggestion of trying a slower powder was made. Correct me if I am wrong but I thought Tightgroup was a slower powder than N320
I am using 4.1 of bullseye with the 124's
