IPSC World Shoot XVII - Florida???

There is a process in place where slots are awarded to regions based on membership...IIRC... USA won't be able to "eat up slots".

Remember, World Shoot is an IPSC match not a USPSA match. There is already a process in place when it comes to slot distribution... and USA won't be able to change the process just because they are hosting it.

So based on national results, how does the system work for getting a slot? Each division gets X number of slots and then they start at the number one shooter and go down the line until they are done?

I'm sure in due course Sean will pipe up, but from the last time this subject came up...

If you are interested in going, e-mail the head of your section and the RD.

Don't wait for the Willy Wonka invitation.

Speaking only for myself, Canada is likely to send a team for open, production, and limited, and quite possibly a ladies team. But with 5 person teams seeming to be the norm, that still leaves likely 40 slots up. Even if we had a perfect classification system, and could know for sure who our best 60 shooters are, there is no chance all 60 would want to or be able to attend the match.

Sean's mentioned before asking about additional spots for international matches. Before he can pose the question, he would need to know how many bodys he has that are interested and willing to cough up the cash in a timely manner.

from what I am told, once slots are returned it's not IPSC that picks who gets the redistribution but the host org. so if anyone doesn't use their slots the USA will be able to use them all internally if they so choose.
I will be applying for my waiver for the US for SHOT when I get home. if that is sucessful I'll be going to Florida for WS, unless I don't qualify for a slot.

Thanks for the info, if i had any experience shooting IPSC i would have gone to Greece, but it's limited and i still suck. A couple years from now could be different though and i wouldn't hesitate to go to Florida if i could get a slot.
