Is a Casting equipment exchange needed?

Given that the mods here haven't even deemed it necessary to break reloading and factory ammunition into separate EE forums, it seems very unlikely they would be convinced to break out casting, which really is a sub-category of reloading, into its own area.

Rather than ask for that casting be put on its own (presumably leaving factory ammo and reloading-other-than-casting together), to me the sensible starting point would be to separate these two. That alone might be enough to ease the search for casting products.

Great idea!!
Hope it finds traction.
Not many (percentage of) gun owners cast I think.
Some of us only shoot factory ammo and dont reload at all and others shoot mainly reloads with or without cast bullets so this split would be helpful for almost all of us.

I hear the search function works pretty good too. Just saying.

Dear lord how dare you suggest such a reasonable solution to a problem that doesn't exist!

If a new sub forum was made every time someone suggested a new EE sub forum, we'd eventually end up with a sub forum just for 1911s, because the 1911 fan boys don't want to use the same space that is used to sell dirty plastic glocks...

The problem is compliance. Getting people to actually use the subforum for it. We still see lots of for sale posts in the wrong places and is there really that much casting/manufacturing ads that it warrants its own subforum? For some reason I don't think so. I could see them separating factory ammo from reloading/components, but not just casting alone.

People would still b*tch since they would not be able to lump everything into one ad.

That was my conclusion as well. That, or not being able to post an item in two places when it could be considered either (i.e. a savage model 24 can't be posted on the rim fire and shotgun threads at the same time ).

Personally id prefer a seperate section for factofy ammo and another for reloading/components. Would be easier to search thru browsing down the list. It's just digital adjustments anyway...

Cast bullet gear gets lost in the volume of ads in the reloading gear forum

Given the low volume of casting gear listed in the current EE: I'm imagining ads that won't need to be bumped weekly just to stay on first page.

Exactly ! Folks who are looking will not have sort through part boxes of bullets for sale and other adds.
Then again there are those of us with duplicate HI dies, multiple lube sizers, and multiple unused molds, gas check makers, and an abundance of copper sheet at 0.014" for gas checks
not to mention the never ending search for lead alloy.

There are some calibers I have gone to powder coating exclusively and use the NOE size die. Or the lee size die. This frees up HI dies for sale. (this is not a stealth advert )

The other issue that scrap lead is getting scarce, Growing the number of bullet casters will increase competition for scrape lead, but get enough folks casting and maybe one business will decide to market lead alloys to cast bullet shooters like Roto metals in the U.S.

I am also interested in swaging bullets. - the exchange could include swaging equipment too.
