Is a Norinco CQ-A/ M4 a good thing?

Won a few comp with mine ( CQB ). So I guess it's "good enough"... haha

It's not a beauty contest winner ( bad finish, rough machined parts etc... ) but as for reliability and decent accuracy not too far ( 100 and less ) it will do the job.

But I would probably not use it for 200-300m + matches... Just saying.

P.S. As for beauty... Easy fix. Paint it! :) Guys think I am shooting an LMT or something... lol

How do you guys go with refinishing the rifle / lower receiver? I see that the serial number is not engraved , more like a painted laser etching , I guess I would just use masking tape to cover the serial before spaying

Exactly. Mask it before.

Cheers

I mostly used Magpul lipstick on my pigs.

Everyone knows that the Israelis and Americans make crap guns compared to the Chinese.

Sarcasm or not aside, it was just an interesting observation that a cheap gun seemed to perform just as well as the others on the line. It made me realize that the quality of the ammunition being fed to it was probably way more important then the quality of the gun itself. But I am a total stickler for detail and put a lot of work into reloads.

Took my new Norc cqa to the range for the first time today. Bought a pmag for it since people seem to complain about the mags. Put 60 rounds through it using the pmag with zero stoppages. Then put another 20 through the norc mag with zero stoppages. Was using mfs 62 grn soft point (steel case). Popped a scope on it and shot some targets at 100 yards. This is a typical 100 yard target. I didn't have any other ammo to try in it. Not sure how this would compare to other Norcs or other AR's ?

Look for 4" and under with average factory non match ammo. Match ammo cut that in half.

Remember what I said about the distance... I use my norc for 100m and under competitions. I might be missing something here but I am not sure about its accuracy past 200m... I am still open to the idea but I just did not have the time to play with a reload for that.

had some old .223 handloads from back when I used to reload for it. The norc shot them better. Wind was blowing about 60km with gusts to 80. Put about another 80 rounds through it with zero issues.

I'm willing to pay more for a Canadian/US made anything but the CQ-A was so reasonable last year that it just seemed like a no-brainer. My next one will certainly be something domestic but the CQ-A is a decent value. Finish was surprisingly good compared to other Chinese products that I've seen. Accuracy acceptable with 2-3" groups (I haven't fed it anything premium), and it has never malfunctioned. I can't even begin to describe how much I hated that gun when I was trying to remove the front sight for an aftermarket forend but it turned out good.

I have a da556 14.5" barrel, it was 499, with 2 mags plus 1 mag extra, 3 altogether!!! due to this pricing I was not expecting a lot, I was totally thrilled with it for the money when it showed up, I took it out with no problems whatsoever with any of the mags or gun, after fooling around at the range a couple times I set up some targets at 50yds and tried my luck at groups with the original irons, once again thoroughly impressed for the money, I haven't changed a thing on it and Beowulf mags work just fine, for something at that price point and the complete b.s of not being able to shoot it anywhere but the range I love it.

if and when we win the battle and I can take my restricteds to camp with me then I will look at spending more, until then my 500 bucks has gone a long long way with this gun. maybe the longer barreled one is next in my future, hey 2 ar's for a grand.....why not??

polishing the trigger components is easy, quick and imo an essential mod to the norc ars.

the guy in the link used a dremel with a polishing attachment but i just used some mothers aluminum polishing compound and a rag.as he says avoid the edges. it makes a huuuge difference with the trigger smoothness and probably a small decrease in pull weight.
