The price of the bullets and the brass is MUCH MUCH higher than a .40
I am actually thinking of changing guns to save money!!

Elsewhere, the mag must fit in the gun, in the box.
RemingtonMarlin; buying 10 round 45ACP mags for a 1911 is just fine to use in Canada in Standard division. Your only disadvantage will be that the double stacks are inherently easier to reload.
