Is a Springfield 1911A1 GI or a Kimber custom II 45ACP eligible for IPSC?

Standard division. Mag limit is 10 rounds or based on length of mag..i forget how many millimeters it is.

yeah and that the mag isnt longer than so many mm's... I would have to look it up..I dont shoot my 1911 in IPSC.

Most of the courses of fire are built around having ten roundsin the gun so with seven you will end up changing mags more often and sucking up time. Mags for the 1911 are relatively cheap. I have had good results with the Mec gar mags 10 rounders.

Also while both are eligible. The GI has an old style beavertail. I was shooting an original 1943 1911 a1 and after a couple hundred rounds the old beavertail was drawing blood by being driven into the web of my hand. Not something you would notice in competition however in ipsc you could be shooting several hundred rounds in a weekend. The kimber has a better beavertail.

You will not last long with a 7 round mag.

I started out that way and then moved to 8 round....followed by 10 round mags.

I would also suggest that you stay away from .45 for IPSC. I can speak from experience as I happen to shoot .45 for IPSC in a Springfield!! LOL!

The price of the bullets and the brass is MUCH MUCH higher than a .40

I am actually thinking of changing guns to save money!!

You also have to watch out for the 45 brass rats who materialize out of thin air to grab your empties before they even hit the ground :D

cliche, but...

I'm always looking for the opportunity to throw out this cliche.........

"Real Men Shoot .45"

True about the cost to shoot...not so bad if you shoot just a bit for fun, but very costly if you want to shoot 10,000 plus rnd./ year.

you have to go to 10 rnd's to be competitive, not to mention all the other modifications that can be done that are costly.

STI might be the best in this price range?

Is there any Trojen 5.0 in stock?

how about shipping and TAX for buyers in Ontario?

Thanks.

In Open. and single stacked 1911s.

In Standard - Double Stack - Canada and US - 140mm http://www.ipsc-canada.org/exempt04.pdf

Elsewhere, the mag must fit in the gun, in the box.

RemingtonMarlin; buying 10 round 45ACP mags for a 1911 is just fine to use in Canada in Standard division. Your only disadvantage will be that the double stacks are inherently easier to reload.

FV sould have some instock, the .45 acp is a very common pistol.

There should be GST as you are out of Province.

Shipping depends on your address.

Best is to give Sean a call or e-mail.
