Is anschutz and CIL the same

A final note about CIL Anschutz rifles. I said earlier that all CIL Anschutz rifles have counterpart Anschutz models. I should have been more specific by saying that all CIL Anschutz bolt action rimfire rifles have counterpart Anschutz models. In other words, bolt action CIL Anschutz rimfire models are Anschutz-made.

The semi automatic CIL Anschutz rifles such as the Models 520 and 525 and the 300 and 470 are not made by Anschutz. I seem to recall they are Italian-made, perhaps by Marocchi.

all my friends in Canadian Army Cadets were "issued" the anshutz/CIL 310 rifles and I think our friend that was a BC biathalon competitor in his teens... and one of the best at the time, was shooting the 190-S
I actually bought one of the former cadet rifles , a 310 , from one of those guys.
I foolishly sold it here on CGN in the early days of my membership

Nice. When I was in cadets it was LE No 7's. Jesus, that was almost 60 years ago now. - dan

We had the LEs but then got upgraded to some anschutz with a thumbhole stock
Never knew the models

Also had the FNs but i only remember getting to use them a couple of times
Cleaned and paraded lots but rarely fired

Bringing this slightly older thread out of retirement but I am brand new to these rifles having found a love for iron sighted shooting

Where can a guy find replacement front sight inserts for these? Loving my rifle but want to try some different inserts.

Are there upgrades for rear/front sights a guy can get?IMG_1333.jpeg

While CIL made explosives, among other things, the company didn't make firearms. They did, however, sell various firearms that were sold with the CIL name on them. Some models were Anschutz rifles, others were not.

As noted by others, during the 1960s - 1970s, some models of CIL-imported Anschutz rifles were for a specific marksmanship program. These included the CIL Anschutz 180 and CIL Anschutz 190. The latter was similar to the Anschutz 1403, while the 180 was the rarely-seen-in-North America Anschutz 1402A. The CIL Anschutz 310 was the Anschutz 1416. There were a number of Flobert action Anschutz rifles with CIL counterparts.

In the US, Savage also imported Anschutz models, including some 54 action rifles. None of these should be mistaken for Anschutz-Savage rifles, which were Savage models imported by Anschutz in a reciprocal deal with Savage. Sometimes Savage Anschutz rifles, which are genuine Anschutz products, make it into Canada.
You are harkening to a grander time when the Canadian dollar was close to and above par with the USD. Companies made deals regularly. Savage, Anschutz, Winchester, Cooey, etc to trade in each other's markets.

i have the 180 pictured on top but no rear sight. Anyone know where to find one, and is there a new compatible one available?

So, I shoot Sporting Rifle in which I hear the CIL 190 was designed for. A lot of folks still shoot them. The old fellow that runs the matches in Aurora advised that CIL imported the actions only, then barrelled and stocked the rifles with their own manufactured components. So apparently the 190 has a Canadian barrel and stock, and was then finished. They’re very accurate. They differed apparently from the Anschutz line in that they had a longer and lighter weight barrel to provide sight radius, but still meet weight for Sporting Rifle matches.

completely in accurate info

1972 Anschutz 190 (No where on this rifle has a CIL stamp)
The Anschutz/CIL relationship was well underway by 1972 and no CIL markings would make that a rare specimen. The Anschutz 190 first appears in the 1977 Anschutz owners manual for the identical Model 1403. See the image below.

1975 CIL 300 (Made by Anschutz)
The semi-auto CIL Anschutz rifles were not actually made by Anschutz. It was made by an Italian gunmaker and marketed by Anschutz.

Re-read what I wrote...
Never said anything about it being 'rare'.
Said the were no "CIL" marking. (Like shown on the 300)

RE: CIL Model 300
You would thing if a manufacture is going to go to the trouble of stamping
"Made by J.G. Anscshutz GmbH Waffenfabrink, Ulm/D. West Germany"
into their receiver... it would actually be made at their factory in Ulm, Germany.
Despite what AI tells ya...

Of course you never said anything about it being rare. I did.

You said you have a 1972 Anschutz Model 190. That's rare, as in very uncommon. A 1972-made CIL-marked Anschutz 190 isn't rare and it's what would be expected. The Anschutz Model 190 is typically no earlier than mid-70s.

Actually, now that I've allowed AI to look at it, it says the Anschutz 300 was made by Anschutz and the Italian rifles are clones, both the Marocchi and Sovereign SM64 models.

Perhaps I'm wrong and you and AI are in agreement about the CIL Anschutz 300 and 470 (and Anschutz 520 and 525) being made in Germany. I apologize.

As a final thought about Anschutz semi-autos, the more recent Anschutz MSR RX22 is not an Anschutz-made product.
