Is anyone else having trouble finding powder?

I just bought 7 lbs of Win 231 and 2000 rounds of 22 LR for a very reasonable price. It's out there; you just have to look very hard, constantly, and never give up.

I have been looking for RL15 for over a month now. Every shop is out of stock. Two websites that say they sell it, actually don't. Anybody know of a stash? I just need a lb. If there is a sufficient substitute for RL 15 that is in good supply, I'd even think about that. It's for 7x64 Brenneke.

Thx

I haven't seen RL15 since 2012. I would suggest you look at Varget or IMR 4064 as a substitute for RL15 applications

I'm one of those who would prefer to load my 12ga 1oz target loads rather than buy them, but I've had to resort to buying them as of late. Not a pound of Red Dot, Green Dot, Titewad or 700-x to be found. 800-x started showing up again but it's too slow for 1oz 12ga. Hopefully the supply issue will resolve itself soon. My last 3/4 lb of Red Dot has been designated for Grouse loads only until supplies can be had.
And I know guys that are buying factory 12ga, tearing them apart, and using the components for loading 20ga and .410.

There is a guy on the EE selling most of that, but he wants 50$ lb. Too rich for my blood, but someone who shoots sub gauges may spend it.

I can get em for less than that but still... I guess you can use some of those in a pistol and if you're hard up they might make sense. And then if you need to ship it just blows the budget wide open.

Higginson got a bunch in along with surplus WC735 which runs $22 a lb in bulk.
I just got 8lbs of Varget from them.

I just bought 24lbs of H4831SSC from Higginson a couple of days ago....Get it while you can cause I doubt he will have any left by next week....

Finding fast burn powders are hit and miss. They do pop up but you have to be fast to get them. The slower the burn rate the more there is around. It's a good idea to work up loads for your favorite firearms with several different powders, that way your not always searching for one brand and type.

At the recent Lumby gun show I bought three tins of Norma Magnum powder and one Norma 203, (which is about like Varget,) all factory sealed cans, plus a couple partial tins, for a total of $60.

I just picked up 5 lbs of W231/HP38 from Henry at Budget Shooters Supply out here on the Left Coast. He's got a decent selection of
powders and other reloading bits and bobs. Get a hold of him pretty soon as he shuts down for the summer at the end of June. He's
got a short list of available powders on his website. Good luck.
