Is is a firearms contravention to use LAR Mags in a non-restricted rifle?

As I understand it there is still some worry about this.

It's OK to use a restricted pistol mag in a restricted rifle.
Is it really OK to use the same mag in a non-restricted rifle?

My understanding is that the answer is NO it's not alright.
Yet I see AR15 adapters for VZ-58's.


Opinions?
Clarifications?
 
Pistol mags are pistol mags, if they happen to work in another gun, it's fine & completely legal.

Yes. it's 100% OK to use in any rifle. Magazine restrictions are all based on the firearm that the magazine is designed for, not what it's used in. That's why it's key that the magazines are labelled as pistol mags.

woops EDIT: it is LEGAL not illegal haha

Yes no issues at all.
The classification of round count is for the mag. ie. 10 rounds in a pistol AR Mag.
It doesn't matter what riffle you use the mag in.

Also just look at some of the pistol caliber carbines that are non restricted. They only use pistol mags and all the pistol mags they use are from restricted firearms.

What? Where, when?
The RCMP website mentions that using a magazine in a firearm other than it was designed for is legal. I think they specifically mention the LAR-15 magazine, and Questar has posted a statement confirming such.

This is an extremely clear cut rule. The only confusion that exists is in the minds of people who do not fully understand the law. The RCMP even did a release saying you are good to go.

4. Magazines designed for one firearm but used in a different firearm
The maximum permitted capacity of a magazine is determined by the kind of firearm it is designed or manufactured for use in and not the kind of firearm it might actually be used in. As a consequence, the maximum permitted capacity remains the same regardless of which firearm it might be used in.
Example:
The Marlin model 45 (Camp Carbine) rifle chambered for 45 Auto caliber uses magazines designed and manufactured for the Colt 1911 handgun, therefore the seven round and eight round capacities are permitted. A similar example is the 10 round capacity magazine for the Rock River Arms LAR-15 pistol, regardless of the kind of firearm it is actually used in.

I shoot 98% of time on crown land near my home in BC, various different types of nr rifles that except lar mags and quite frequently get checked by local conservation officers and the first time I did have some worry that I was going to have to explain myself but to my surprise he was already well versed in the topic and new that it was indeed legal
