Is it illegal to have two 8 lbs containers of smokeless powder at home?

Good point. Caledonia is closer too, and choice is good. I will check them out too. Buying reloading powder in 1 lbs containers at retail prices is needlessly costly ... better to be smart about it and buy in bulk from distributors.

Thank you for this. I love driving around the region ... it is surprising what is here ...
Just remember that Lawry's (and I believe Hummason's) both require you to call a day ahead for powder orders as I believe they store their powder off site so you can't just show up and ask for it. Bullets, primers, ammo, etc. they have on site so no need to call in advance. I haven't been to Hummason's in a couple of years but the girls at Lawry's are usually very accommodating and you can call toll free to check on stock & pricing. 877-705-0008

There are limits set out in the Explosives Act which is administrated by Natural Resources Canada. There are also conditions/restrictions set out in the National Fire Prevention Act (NFPA). It is a good idea to comply with both if you don't want to jeopardize your homeowner's insurance coverage.

I went through a total loss house fire, my provider is one of if not the largest provider in Canada. They didn't give a #### about my gunpowder.
